After our wonderful experience with Insect Lore’s Live Butterfly Garden, I was super-excited to try out the Ladybug Land!
The ladybug land arrived along with a tube of ladybug larva. We just dumped the larva (which looked kind of gross, in all honesty) into the ladybug land and added water. Several days later, the ladybugs (or rather Ladybird Beetles) transitioned to their pupal stage and hung on the side of the ladybug land. A few days after that, the ladybugs emerged with a faint coloring that darkened with time.
We had so much fun watching these Ladybird Beetles grow. We watched them for a few weeks after they became ladybugs before releasing them.

My son & I visited the Bugseum where the Insect Lore originates. Its about a 30min drive from us. He loved it so much we were there for nearly 3hrs! The butterfly garden was great. Every spring he collects ladybugs at home & at school. He’ll bring them home in a plastic bottle with grass HE even has a ‘bugwatch’ he will put them in for no more than 24hrs then lets them go so they ‘can eat’. the Ladybug Land would be something he would love!

We tried this for the first time this year – SO cute and super educational! Afterwards, we would take nature walks and collect adult ladybugs for a perfect container and release after a few days!
I am a preschool teacher and over the summer I was introduced to Insect Lore with the Ladybug Land… I learned more about ladybugs by doing a 2 week thematic unit with my students than I had in all my years of schooling. I would love the opportunity to raise ladybugs again as well as receive the enhancement materials! My students would be thrilled as well.
