Bible Verses For Kids: Printable Scripture Cards

bible verses for kids to memorize

I’ve been increasingly convicted of the necessity to memorize scripture… both for myself and for my family. A quote from a session in the current Beth Moore Bible study I’m participating in hit me particularly hard:  “What good does it do to believe ‘the Word’ without any remembrance of the words?”

I believe God can speak to us in certain situations by reminding us of His truths that have been memorized long ago. I’ve intended on making these printable scripture cards for a while now, but finally spent a few hours finishing it on Saturday. It took a lot of time to find bible verses for every letter of the alphabet!

Short Bible Verses For Kids

I was inspired by the book My ABC Bible Verses, which I came very close to buying. After flipping through it at the book store, however, I realized that many of the scriptures were in the King James version. We rarely use the King James version in our house (since the language used isn’t one that our kids understand), so this didn’t make sense for us. I used a variety of translations for the abc bible verses I chose, including the New International Version, the Contemporary English Version, the New Living Translation, and the KJV (for the letter “t”). I also used Impress Your Kid’s ABC Scriptures as a reference for some of the verses I chose for these scripture cards.

Bible Verses For Kids

We’re planning on working with the boys (mostly Big Brother) on memorizing one verse each week. There are four alphabet letters and scriptures per page.

After printing out these ABC Scripture Cards on card stock, I first laminated them. I have this laminator and love it! Then, I hole-punched each scripture card and used a binder clip to keep them all together! A little ribbon tied onto the binder clip makes it look a little cuter. :)

I hope that you will find these bible verses for kids to be a blessing to you and your family!

A Greener Version of the ABC Scripture Cards

abc bible verses to print

I updated the ABC bible verses so that they could be printed on both the front AND back of each piece of card stock. This will take a little bit of effort on your part to ensure that the paper gets fed into your printer correctly (and facing the right direction). You also must select ‘reverse page orientation’ on the back sides ONLY of each page when you are printing it.

If you are successful… you will have a memory verse on the front AND back of each card that are in alphabetical order (B is on the back of A, D is on the back of C, etc).

I decided to print the scripture cards this way because I wanted to make some to send to the mission we support in Zimbabwe as well as share with others in our area. Making several sets of these would be much too costly and time-consuming with the original layout.

I also changed the picture for the verse “A” because obviously, not everyone will have a home that looks like the one depicted in the original ABC scripture cards. The clip art that replaced it is still not representative of all family types but at least it doesn’t show a home being an architectural structure, rather a family unit.

Step-by-step instructions for printing your ‘green’ Scripture Cards:

  1. Print out verses beginning with A, C, E, and G.
  2. Then, feed the paper back into the printer.
  3. Print out verses B, D, F, and H on the other side.  **
  4. On a second piece of cardstock…
  5. Print out verses I, K, M, and O.
  6. Then, feed the paper back into the printer.
  7. Print out verses J, L, N, and P on the other side.  **
  8. On a third piece of cardstock…
  9. Print out verses Q, S, U, and W.
  10. Then, feed the paper back into the printer.
  11. Print out verses R, T, V, and X on the other side. **
  12. On a fourth piece of cardstock…
  13. Print out the verse beginning with Y and the title.
  14. Then, feed the paper back into the printer.
  15. Print out the verse beginning with Z and the description on the other side. **

*Make sure you choose the option to ‘reverse page orientation’ on your printer settings on THIS page ONLY.*

So now instead of using 7 pieces of cardstock…you’re only using 4!

If you choose to laminate them, you only need 4 laminating pouches. I highly recommend laminating them, especially if you review your memory verses at the dinner table! We have had this laminator for over a year and a half and we love it. I buy the generic pouches from Sam’s, which are very affordable!

  1. I LOVE IT! I use ABC Bible verses too, and we have the same problem, it’s KJV. But I will be using these now too! Thank you! I am so grateful to God that He gave women like you the gifts and talents to create these kinds of things, and the generosity to share them with those of us that are not gifted in the same areas. Thank you for being used by HIM!

    1. Please do not take this the wrong way for I speak with the Love of God in my heart. I use to believe that other translations were best for my little ones too but that is a complete disobedience to the Lord. KJV Revelation 22:18-21 ” For I testify unto EVERY MAN that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book , If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: 19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy God shall take away his part out of the book of Life and out of the holy city and from the things which are written in this book. 20 He which testifieth these things sayeth surely I come quickly amen even so come Lord Jesus. 21 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. amen The Lord loved the children that sat in his lap and he taught to them the same words that he wrote in his word. The holy spirit will translate the words before they even hit their ears.

        1. Jenae, you are absolutely right.
This is a huge controversy, and it surprises me at how passionate KJV people are about their choice of versions.
I was a religion major, and my husband and I are in the ministry, so we spent some time studying the way the Bible was translated, and the different translations that exist. Some more have come along since then (I won’t reveal my age ;) ) but this is what we do know.

The actual Greek and Hebrew translations are not as accurate as we would like, since they are not the original texts themselves. There is no known original texts in existence. In fact, we know that thousands of years passed after the creation of the world before the account was ever WRITTEN down, It was passed on orally before then. So unless we have a recording of the first time the creation story was ever told by God, or Adam, or whoever told it, we will never know the original version.
However, we also know that God has protected His Holy Word over the last 6,000 plus years, and the story of how our Bible came to us is amazing! I highly recommend reading the story and teaching it to your children as well!

As far as the translations go, the truth about the KJV is that King James wanted an English translation, but he wanted it to be poetic. He and his translators, were not concerned with accuracy as much as poetry. (Please note, God STILL protects His Holy Word and there is absolutely nothing wrong with KJV, other than we don’t talk like that now!)
However, when comparing the KJV with the Greek texts to which we are able to refer (not the originals, mind you) the KJV falls terribly short of making a clean, accurate translation on many accounts. (I know this will highly offend many of your KJVer’s, but if it does, go study the Greek language, obtain a copy of the Greek texts, and prove your point to me and I will happily concede, but I have studied the Greek texts and found the places they were not accurately translated. )

If you are looking for an accurate, as much as can be word for word translation, NASB is about as good as it gets. This does not mean that is the only translation out there that is good. I will say it again! God protects His holy Word!!! And I truly believe that saying there is only one translation that is good, is saying He cannot protect it. Besides, what do you do with the Spanish translation, and German, and all the translations that have yet to be translated, from the Hebrew and Greek texts, not the KJV.
There are many good translations out there. However, just remember that some are simply interpretations, not translations. Be careful to read an accurate translation along with interpretations and always compare to the translation.

As mothers and fathers, it is always our responsibility to find what works best for our family and our children and expect other family’s to do the same without judgement. The translation we use to teach our children God’s Holy, infallible, inerrent, life-changing Word is not important. What is important is that WE TEACH them God’s Word in such a way that it becomes part of their heart, not just their mind!

            1. I believe God wants us to share the Lord with our children from his book. Be it in any translation, or language. He has no bounds as to how he can reach us especially if we are teaching our children about him from his book.

He intended for us to be in his word, in any way shape or form, as long as we are seeking him and his will for us and our children.

              Well said in Amy’s post.

          1. I want to carefully reply to Amy’s claims.
            1) She claims that the Kjv is NOT accurately translated.
            2) She claims that “THE” purpose behind the writing of the Kjv was to have a poetical scripture.
3)She says he protects his holy word yet the Only Word of God for most nations in the past 400 years has been the KJV.

I am going to start with her claim about God protecting his word. She is absolutely correct. God would be a LIAR if he didn’t.. Why do I say that? Psalm 12:6 KJV “The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.” 12:7 “Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever. ” So either God himself is a Liar… OR He has preserved his word. My question is.. if the KJV isn’t the word of God.. What other bible was there during the past 400 years? Which ones were being used.. Which ones were out there converting souls? Oh sure there was the Tyndale.. and others.. but were they being used? Were they the ones people picked up daily for their in home bible reading?

NO! It WAS the KJV. The King James Version was taken to every nation of the British Kingdom. The kingdom where sun never set on some land full of British missionaries.

Also as far as the men who were translating the KJV. The 54 King James Bible translators (47 did the actual work of translating) were a collection of some of the world’s best scholars. They approached this translation with the mindset that they were translating the very Words of God, not just some book. The King James Bible has been called “the monument of English prose” as well as “the only great work of art ever created by a committee.” Howbeit, the question is raised, is the King James Bible inspired? I say, yes, absolutely, and it is self evident. WHY do I say Self Evident? From 1611-1900 there has been a FLOOD of humans who preached the Gospel, formed nations and changed the WORLD… And all of them used the KJV!

“If thou wilt not observe to do all the words of this law that are written in this book, that thou mayest fear this glorious and fearful name, THE LORD THY GOD; Then the LORD will make thy plagues wonderful, and the plagues of thy seed, even great plagues, and of long continuance, and sore sicknesses.” (Deuteronomy 28:58-59)

God’s name is glorious and fearful. The penalty for not fearing God’s name makes it obvious that He does not take disrespect for His name lightly. In light of the value the LORD places on His name, consider the following:

“I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.” (Ps 138:2)

The Lord also informed us of His view of His word by giving us three grave warnings to those who would corrupt the Scriptures. God warned against adding to His word:

“Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.” (Proverbs 30:5-6)

Note that He also warned would-be correctors that they were not to subtract from His word.

“Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.” (Deuteronomy 4:2)

God gave us the words that He wanted us to have, and we dare not alter them. If we are to keep His commandments, we certainly need to know precisely what they are. Hence, the Lord provided ample warnings to us, so that we might not be tempted to change His words. Lest anyone be confused about the utter foolishness of tampering with the holy word of God, the Lord provided a fearsome final reminder in the last verses of His inspired word:

“For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.” (Rev. 22:18-19)

She’s right! God does protect and preserve his word.. That is why She’s wrong on the other 2 issues. God uses the desires and pretenses of mankind to do his work. We think were doing one thing.. While ultimately he is doing and performing his own way and will.

            1. Check out the Geneva Bible. It precedes the KJV and was translated by the great preachers of the day to get the Word of God into the hands of the people. King James was on a mission to kill these men. He hired scribes, his political flunkies, to translate the Bible the way he wanted. Check out your history. What Bible came over on the Mayflower? When was KJV published and who had access to it? People are so adamant about this, and I personally have been attacked for using a different translation. Never mind that I knew much more scripture than those doing the criticizing! What is important is that we listen to God speaking to us and obey, and hide His Word in our hearts!

            2. Wow. What an ethnocentric view of the world. “What other bible was there during the past 400 years?” How about all the millions of bibles in Latin, Spanish, Greek, German, French, Coptic, Chaldean, and dozens of other languages. The British and American Empires may dominate now, but they have not dominated the world for the majority of the last 400 years.

If Deuteronomy 4:2 is to be taken literally, nothing after the Pentateuch can be considered the Word of God. Does that mean that Isaiah, Psalms, Proverbs, the entire New Testament are not valid? And the same thing goes for the passage in Revelation. Revelation was not the last of the books written. Anything after that is invalid.

            3. Thank you, well said and well done. We are KJV only family also. I don’t think it hurts us to read an “olde” language.

but I do want to throw this into the mix since I did study foreign languages, I understand that some words don’t translate “exactly” in English, for example: The word “ad” in Latin means “to, toward or near” huge difference when speaking: I am going to the store, I am going nearing the store, I am going toward the store.
I asked a Vietnamese person about the word for flower petal, the word they use actually describes it, the part of the flower that is colored etc. I think my brother in-law has run into the same thing with Chinese, and there are languages that refuse to pick up “new” words to keep their language “pure”. My Dad’s favorite phrase for a while was “entonces resultan que”, literally, “then resulting how”: I laughingly called it : the rest of the story.
Yes, we believe God preserved His word, these “other” versions are “Sanitized versions. Many leave out whole verses, AND most importantly, I think, they have left out the references to Jesus blood sacrifice for us.

            4. Tonya Spencer you are so right. I was reading the NIV and it seemed to easy. Then I was listening to the NKJV cd’s and I heard a scripture out of context. Then I had come across a youtube upload about the different bible versions. Once I found out that they have taken words like Jew, Jesus, hell, out of many I began burning those other translations. The holy spirit spoke to me telling me I was the salt of the earth. I told the Lord I don’t want anything that’s not of Him. The NIV exalts Lucifer and not the Lord. So, what you are saying to Amy is truth. The Lord showed me that. Every since then I’ve been telling people to stay far away from those Luciferian bibles that take away from God’s holy word. Blessings to those who keep the Authorized King James bible for it’s the only one I use and the only one I will continue to use.

            5. Although this post in not about translations and the “right” translations, the conversation has turned into this none the less.

Personally, I study the NKJV and will dive deeper into the Greek or Hebrew to really know what something means. As far as reading and understanding (think synonyms) I will use the NLT, AMP (Amplified), and I’ll cross check it with many versions, including the KJV, in order to get a better understanding of what the text is saying. I’ve struggled with reading comprehension my whole life and my brain will check out if I try to read strictly the KJV for understanding.

My view has always been this, since I started reading and studying the Bible; the KJV was translated in a way that was spoken back then. We don’t speak that way and neither did Jesus or the Hebrew, Jewish, Greek cultures. If you read scripture purely translated from those cultures it would be gibberish to another language/culture.

Now, with that said, there are versions that leave out verses (NIV), purposely change/twist the meaning leaving out certain words (NWT), or “Christian” religions who add entire books to the Bible (LDS). The latter two mentioned are the ones I would worry ore about. If you’re faithful to seek God in His Word and you don’t read the blatantly changed/’taking away’ (Jehovah’s Witnesses NWT) or additional texts/’adding to’ (The Book Of Mormon) then I believe you will be able to find Truth in differently translated Bibles. The Holy Spirit will speak to your heart if something is wrong, as long as you are seeking to study His true Word.

So, for me and in teaching my kids, I will read to/with them in a language they can understand so they can comprehend what they are hearing/reading. If that’s KJV then I’ll read that to/with them, but if not then I will help them learn how to cross reference with another version as well. Whatever works the best for them.

Let’s not turn on ourselves as the Church, pointing fingers at one another and how we choose to study God’s Word, how we worship God, whether our music is too loud or too subdued, or whether there are flashing lights in our churches or stained glass. Let us not be whitewashed tombs walking around void of the love of God. Face outward with Love and humility. There’s a world out there that needs to know Who Jesus is and why He came to us (starting with our kids, hence the purpose of the original post.)

I love you all and pray for wisdom and understanding in your daily walks with the Lord, as well as in mine. Lord knows we need it!

        2. All scripture is given by God (2 Tim. 3:16). Yes even the KJV was translated so, what we must do is pray and ask the Lord for guidance and truth at all times and have faith that He will not let us be deceived (Prov. 3:5).

      1. Amen Lora, I am a KJV believer all the way and you couldn’t have said it any better way. Either way though. If you are saved and living by the Gods Law you will go to heaven and have ever lasting life. How can people not understand that. If people truly read the Bible as they say, this world would be a better place. I’m not perfect and nobody is but you can live by the bible. Keep Praying.

        1. Romans 11:6 And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.

Romans 6:14 | For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.

Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Becky I have to disagree with you one comment as I to use the KJV and am a Bible believing christian. thiese verses cannot be ignored we are not under Law so are not save by following the law. However note -Romans 6:1-2 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
          And….
Romans 6:15 What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

          God bless

      2. I have heard this a lot about the KJV of the Bible and how that is the only Bible you should use but do you actually think Jesus talked the way the KJV version of the Bible is written? Jesus spoke Aramic not the way King James spoke. If you read a Bible and can’t quite get it I know God can help us understand the Bible, but how do you know He hasn’t sent these other versions of the Bible to help us? If the meaning is the same just worded a little differently what’s the harm?

      3. Ms. Lora, you have to teach your kids the original Greek and Hebrew if you want to teach your children the original scriptures without adding or taking anything away!
It was not spoken by its writers or printed in old English /King James Version.

Let’s be smart and get God’s word into our children’s minds so the Holy Spirit can bring life to His word in their hearts.

          1. My father was the son of a preacher. He told me stories of how they would make games out of calling out a letter and see who could quote a scripture that started with that letter. I often thought about writing a memory verse book alphabetically to instill the word of God in the hearts of young children. Amazing how we feed our children ‘healthy’ food, yet just as important they need to be fed our spiritual food! Bless you for not procrastinating as I had done. Being a school teacher, I just could never find the time. I truly love this idea even better than in a book. It is so user friendly! What a blessing it will be to sooooooo many!!

      1. Thank you for posting these!! I have been looking for them. My mom was my 5th grade Sunday School teacher, and she gave us little books that had these verses in them. I memorized most of them, but couldn’t remember all of them. I am sending a copy to my mom too. Thanks again.

        Jean

  9. Do you have these in the King James Version? They are adorable but we only have our children memorize from the KJV. Thank you.

      1. I love this and have printed them. Thank you so very much! But, I would also love a version in only NIV. Everything we memorize is in NIV…My Father’s World and Awana. Does anyone know of a something like this in the NIV transaltion?
        Thanks in advance!

  10. This book is a great idea! As far as my family goes we love the King James Bible because it has been proven to be easier to read than the NIV, NKJV and most others, not to mention the easiest Bible to memorize.

Thank you for sharing your ideas, may the Lord bless you in your service for Him.

    Leah

    1. Leah, I might have to disagree about the “easier to read” thing (for me anyway)! Even I get quite confused with all the “thees” and “thous”. :)

      1. I think it is very important to be congruent with what version of the Bible is taught at church and in the home. Children are capable of learning ANYTHING that is taught to them. If mothers want the KJV, maybe they should spend less time complaining here and more time creating something similar with the scriptures they are more familiar with.

I use the KJV personally, and I would NOT want my child to memorize less than approved materials.

      2. I don’t know that it is easier to read but having grown up with the KJV, I have to admit it is much easier to memorize. It’s sort of like poetry so it’s actually easier to remember than the more recent translations.

  11. Thanks for sharing. I will use with my kids and we will use these with our preschool kids in Sunday School!! Wonderful images to go with the text!! So appreciated!

  12. Amen! We only use the KJV too so I’m thankful for her reference to the book by Ms. Hunt. LOL! Very cute idea though.

  13. What a cute & wonderful idea!! I’m bookmarking this to come back to when I have a bit more time so I can look at all the pages and write down the scriptures. We also only use the King James Version of the Bible, so I’d have to make my own, but having a list of scriptures to start from will be a HUGE help. Fun idea for my 9, 5 and 2 year olds.

  14. would LOVE this if it were KJV… we only memorize KJV. so……if you decide to do another version, please let me know. =)

    1. The resource I mentioned above (My ABC Bible Verses book) is in the King James. Why is it that you only memorize KJV? I’m just curious…

      1. I have seen many comments about the KJV of the bible, so i will try and give an answer as best as i could. From what i have learned the King James Version is the oldest and most accurate version of the bible. Last year was even the year of the KJV 400yrs old, amazing!. So the newer and revised may be easier to read at times, but some have not just changerd words but removed some words and verses that are important to us. The word Christ, Lord ,Jesus , Go d, Godhead, Lucifer, blood, heaven, hell, salvation. These words are pretty important, and they have not removed them completely they are taken out subtilly so you dont notice its a big deal. But how can i give someone the gospel so they can know how to get to heaven if these words are removed. in Revelation 22:18,19 (im paraphrasing) it says if any man add or take away fromthe words of the book, God shall take away his part out of the book of life. If God wanted it not to be in it he would nothave said it. I hope they gives a easy example. I would not asay anyone is a bad christian for not using the KJV but this is why i do not use it. i hope that helps. thanks.

        1. Thanks for sharing your thoughts! The New Testament was actually written in Greek, so even the King James Version is a translation of the original Greek.

          1. I believe that Alicia meant that the KJV is the best ENGLISH translation of the Bible. It is the most accurate translation from that original Greek texts. And we simply don’t have the scholars today who know the archaic Greek as well as they did when the KJV was translated, so modern translations cannot be specific or as accurate as the KJV. And it doesn’t hurt our children’s vocabulary at all to teach them some older, more specific words that might be found in the KJV. What a great opportunity that is!

        2. I know this is old, but I wanted to share. The KJV was actually translated from Latin into English, and the language was “fluffed” because King James wanted to show off the beauty of the English language. The NASB and ESV have been translated from the original Hebrew and Greek and are the most accurate word-for-word English translations today.

          1. I was about to say exactly what Emily stated. There are problems with most translations if you want to get picky, but I agree with Emily NASB and ESV are my bibles of choice…
On a seperate note, I do not like the NIV at all!!!! So much doctrinal bias.

          2. Actually the KJV was not translated from the Latin Vulgate, but from the Masoretic Hebrew text (Old Testament) and from the Textus Receptus Greek (New Testament). The language is not fluffed. Greek was a very specific language, and it’s hard sometimes to communicate the same idea in English (a less specific language). But the KJV translators did an excellent job.

          3. Thank you, Andrea, I was about to comment exactly as you did concerning the TR. The newer more modern versions are translated from the Westcott & Hort texts. These texts were discovered as a part of the Dead Sea scrolls, some were turned up in other excavations in Alexandria, etc. Even Scoffield was convinced these were the best. In his thinking, as in all those that buy into the WH texts, is that oldest = best, because the closer these were copied to the original writings, and the fewer times copies had been made of copies that had been made of copies, that would mean that THESE had to be the truest to the Scripture that God gave holy men. That sounds great in theory but it’s just not true. The Word of God was not missing for hundreds upon hundreds of years and then uncovered during archeological finds in modern times. It was being read, copied, translated, and preserved “from [David’s] generation for ever” (Psalm 12:6-7).
It’s funny to me that I came across this just today as I have grown up in a KJV only type of environment, memorized tons of scripture from that version and heard the “NIV vs KJV” battles all while growing up and just recently have decided to research why I have always favored the KJV and whether there was any reason for all the chatter. And it seems as though there is. Personally, I have landed on the conclusion that the KJV is the most acurate translation of scripture we have and the one that has stood the test of time. I’ve always claimed the KJV as being easier to memorize for it’s poetic form, also of being more formal and just giving that feeling of reverence when it’s read — but as of recent study have learned some interesting facts about it’s origination in compared to that of more modern texts and have decided that my desire for it to be the only version memorized in my home runs much deeper than that of personal preference.
Did not intend this response to be this long…sorry.
I applaud the effort to instill God’s Word into our children and would not want to argue over translation but it is something to truly research rather than to just accept that all translations are created equally.
Love this blog, btw, thankful for the great ideas shared here.

      2. Hi :) Our Church just recently did an in depth study on the KJV and other versions that are available. If you would like to see that study let me know. There is A LOT to it ~ the KJV is the most accurate version. We learned about the Origins of the bibles (very interesting by the way) it was a lot for me to follow being a new Christian but I still learned SO much and am very pleased that I began my journey using the KJV :) Thankyou for sharing this and everything else you share as well ~ it is a blessing and may God bless you and your family for this ministry

  15. Thanks so much these are great. I did have one question…would it be possible for you to post which translation you used for each verse? I know that is a lot of work if not it is no big deal, just thought I would ask. I don’t have an issue with any of the translations you used I just think it would be cool to know which is which. Thanks for all your work. I am printing these now for my 4.5, 3 and 1 year old!!!

    1. Charlotte, it would be pretty time consuming (as I didn’t record which version while I was creating them). Plus, I would have to re-upload them to the site. I’m sorry!

    2. Charlotte, if there’s a particular one that you want to look up, do a google search for the verse and it will most likely pull up the translation for you. Just an idea.

      1. Thank you so much…you did not have to do that, but thank you!!! That is really sweet I know it was not an easy task, I started using these with my 4.5 year old and 3 year old this morning and they really enjoyed them!!!

  16. The my abc bible verse book is not all in kjv. You can look on the back of the book to see what bible versions they used. I happen to love that book. But I love what you made for you kids too!

  17. Thank you so much for sharing all the hard work you put into these. They are now saved on my computer and I can’t wait to put this little book together for my 6 and 8 y ear olds. I’m thinking we’ll have a couple – one for at home and one for in the car (since we seem to always be in the car these days!). Thank you again and God bless!

  18. Thank you, so very much for this! This is WONDERFUL! Can’t wait to print these out & use them with my girlies AND me! Thank you! God bless!

  19. Well I cannot wait till my printer gets out of the shop so I can get on this project!! :D Thank you for sharing!!

  20. Jenae I have been following your blog for awhile since I found you through MSM. It is a great resource and encouragement. Thanks for the scripture cards–I have been wanting some but not wanting to spend the money on something I knew I could make for very inexpensive myself. You beat me to it and now I have some great references. I too will be making a set for my nephews for Christmas. Thanks for your hard work it is appreciated!!

  21. A fun way to motivate the kids to learn these verses is to buy really cool letters at a teacher’s store (we got ones with animals – M for monkey – etc.). Then, when our son memorized the A verse, we hung the A in his room. To get the B, he had to say the A verse and the B verse. To earn the numbers, he learned the ten commandments.

    1. It’s sometimes around $18 on the GoldBox Deal of the Day (every few months), but $21 is a pretty decent price for it! Normally on Amazon it runs around $29.

  22. where did you buy the ring binder? I always want to put all the bday cards ,xmas cards that my kids had recieved and bind them together.thanks Jenae

  23. These are wonderful! So thankful for resources as I continue to collect items to use with my 2 year old. I appreciate you sharing!!

  24. I just want to say Thank you I saved them and will be buying more ink this week, I can’t wait to share these with my Daycare and I teach Toddler Church as well…….

  25. These look great! We keep a scripture posted in the bathroom and we have our boys repeat it as they wash their hands. This guarantees they are repeated at Scripture at least three times a day and they’ve learned several Scriptures this way (age 4 and 2).

    1. GREAT idea Ashley! I’ve heard of “recite the alphabet twice,” “count to two hundred,” etc., but I just adore the say the verse instead. Brilliant, just like these great ABC cards! Thanks ladies.

  26. What I love about the Scripture cards above is that the project focuses on allowing the Word of God to seep into the deepest cracks and crevices of the hearts of a family. These short and simple verses are such a poignant way for the whole family to be captured by the Spirit of the Word in ways that will be transformative beyond what anyone might anticipate. It will help the whole family to recite them and talk about them when they are at home and away, when they lie down and when they rise (Deut 6:4-10). Brilliant idea!!!

I will say that I’m struck by the folks who are critiquing this because it is not a KJV only product. The KJV is not easier to read than other translations. As a minister, I hear people stumbling through its language all the time when reading in classes and in a worship assembly. It’s also not the most reliable translation. Since the KJV was first translated numerous biblical manuscripts have been discovered that are older and more reliable than the ones used to translate the KJV. Modern translations have taken these manuscripts into consideration in ways that the KJV and NKJV have not.

People tend to think that the KJV is the “approved” translation, but that is often because it is called the “authorized” translation. This is not a notation of divine authorization but of the royal authorization that led to the translation of the KJV for the Church of England.

Make no mistake, the KJV is a beautiful artifact of the English language and the English religious landscape, but there is nothing divinely sacred about this translation that makes it superior to others. In fact, as it relates to the oldest and most reliable Hebrew, Greek, and Aramaic manuscripts of the biblical material, it is inferior.

Most importantly though, I would say this. I told someone the other day that, as a minister and theologian, when I am asked what translation is best, my first answer is always, whatever translation you will actually read. I want you to read your Bible. Read what will be a blessing to you and your family, but read it. If you want to get into specifics from there, we can talk, but find a translation that captures your heart and read it. (And let it read you!) If that is KJV, read it. If it is NIV or NRSV or CEV, read it. And as you read, may the living Word who became flesh and dwelt among us capture your heart and transform you more and more into the image and likeness of God!

    1. Thank you so much for sharing, Eric! All of your comments were wonderful (and enlightening) and the very last paragraph was ESPECIALLY beautiful! Thank you!

    2. Just wanted to say that I love your post, Eric. Articulate and accurate, and it dispels some misinformation that is rampant in many Christian circles. Thanks!

    3. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, Eric. That post was the most respectfully articulate discussion on the whole translation/transliteration issue that I’ve ever read. I was about to try to write it all myself after reading the earlier posts, so I’m VERY glad you already did it so perfectly.

Jenae, thank you so very much for this amazing resource. I’m thrilled to pieces to make this for my girls (just turning 6 and 2), and plan to make quite a few more as gifts. You’ve used your time and talent to really bless countless families, and I’m so grateful for that!

    4. Thank you for you comments. I have tried reading the KJV many times and ended up quitting because it was difficult to understand. I now read NLT Study Bible and look forward to opening it every morning.

I have seen so much controversy on the internet about whether it is a proper translation or not that I began to wonder if I should be reading that one at all. So far I have read 11 books, in my other bible I barely got through 4 books before I gave up.

Thanks to your comment I can stop worrying about proper translations and just enjoy my time with God and his Word.

  27. I think these are wonderful! I am not a mother yet, but I think I will use these so my husband and I can be more intentional about memorizing Scripture! I am also in school to be a teacher and would definitely use these in a Christian school to teach my students. Great Resource! Thank you and God bless!

    1. The problem with downloading it in Word is that I used an older version to create the cards. When I sent the documents to my laptop, the same fonts aren’t available, so it was pretty jumbled. That’s why I uploaded it in PDF.

  28. So cute! I think I’m going to make them into a Ziploc bag book (since I don’t have a laminator) Thank you for taking the time to work on them. They are beautiful!

  29. I’m not sure where I found your site, but I’m so glad I did. This is Absolutely a blessing for our family. Thank you for taking the time to add graphics to the cards – it makes them much more interesting for the children.

  30. I love this idea as well. I have the KJV book and I hesitated to use it because of the wordiness, but really want to teach my son scripture. I’m curious…at what age do you think a child is ready to start memorizing. I have a 2 yr. old and we’re still trying to work on memorizing ABC”s and 1-10. (He’s almost there;) Anyway, do you have any suggestions for creative ways to help them memorize the verses? PS. I’m excited because I’ll have to memorize them too!

    1. Larkin, my son memorized his first verse at the age of 2.5. I was participating in Bible Study Fellowship at the time and they have an excellent kid’s program and resource page each week. I saw that there was a memory verse on the resource page and thought it would be fun to try. I never imagined he would actually memorize it (and remember it better than I did, mind you)…but he did! We were completely blown away and it just goes to show that their little brains are like sponges.

We work on our memory verses right after we’re finished eating dinner, while everyone is still sitting at the table. We say it together, then we let each person take a turn. We say it together again, shout it…whatever it takes to make it interesting to the kids. Little Brother (22 months) was even able to say a few words of the verse last night (house, serve, Lord) as we were working on it. The scripture reference is always the hardest part (for everyone, including us adults)…but we just keep working on it every night for a week. By then it’s pretty well solidified in everyone’s minds. Hope this helps!

      1. Thanks! I’m actually a part of BSF too and love their reference sheet, but haven’t worked with my son on the verses yet, I’m sad to say. But I like your example of how your family practices the verses together! My husband thought that was a great idea too. Thank you!

  31. I really appreciate these! At first I was sad that people aren’t teaching their kids KJV anymore, but as I read the comments and downloaded the cards, I really understood. It’s about God’s words. And as long as they are fundamentally the same, then that’s all the matters. Thanks Janae!

  32. Thank you so much for these Scripture Verses. I was just today trying to find a way to incorporate Scripture learning with my kids, who are young and have short attention spans. So this is something we can do before preschool to begin the day with the Lord and I’m so thankful He provided my answer through you. Thanks for all you do – your blog is fantastic!

  33. Thank you so much for these beautiful cards! My boys memorize a scripture each month through church. Now that they are in preschool at our church the same monthly scriptures are emphasize again in their prek class. But since they’re only going 2 days a week, I’ve been supplementing at home. I love that I can work this right into their weekly letter learning. We’re on week “d” so we’ll have a little catching up to do, but we’ll get there! Thanks again for this wonderful resource!!

  34. I attended a Beth more conference last summer and she talked about memorizing a verse for every letter of the alphabet, which I had never heard of beofre. I loved the idea, but never got around to doing. Thank you for the reminder! This is such a fun format to use for teaching not only myself, but the kids. Do you mind telling us what font you used? It is so playfull!

  35. I’m surprised to see all the KJV comments. Truest accuracy is found in the original languages. Read the Bible. If you’re still concerned over accuracy, stop arguing over the English and learn Hebrew. ;)

    P.S. Thanks, Jenae! Great resource.

  36. God Bless you for these ABC cards and GOd bless you all for taking time to read and write comments. Let’s come together to fight the encroachment of Hell into our lives

  37. I have been looking for something like this! Thank you so much for sharing your hard work and creativity. I am planning on using this and you will be helping grow my children in Jesus. And we’ve NEVER met! Thank you.

    1. Audra, I just about burst out in tears when I read your post. There is no greater joy than being used to bring others closer to Christ and I hadn’t really looked at these cards in this way until your comment! Thank you for your encouragement and I pray these cards are a blessing to your family!

  38. Just wanted to thank you for sharing your hard work with the rest of us. The cards are bright, friendly and beg to be used! You are also very gracious in all your responses. I was glad to read EMag’s reply, as I had searched for a bible that touched my heart and was easy to read, and found it in the NLT. I will be sharing these with my girls at dinnertime. Thanks agains..found you through “A Holy Experience” :)

  39. These are wonderful – thank you for taking the time to put them together and then to share them to bless folks like me – all the way across the world! I was looking for a small gift to make for a friend’s toddler to say thank you for a kindness and this is just perfect :-) God bless! :)

  40. Thank you so much for all the hard work you put into making this awesome book! I love it and can’t wait to put it together for my son (and myself!). Thank you!!

  41. Jenae,
First, I love the cards. Second, unfortunately, I found an error. I scrolled through your comments to see if you were already made aware of it, but I didn’t see anything. “N” gives the wrong scripture reference. It should be I Corinthians 2:9, not Hebrews 13:8, which is “J”. :( I wanted to let you know, so that you can get it corrected. Seems a lot of people are finding your cards very helpful! Thank you for the time, talent and energy you put into this project!

    1. Katie, I already corrected the cards earlier this morning. If you click on the printable now, you will see the correct scripture reference. I also informed all my facebook fans who had already printed them to use a marker and write the correct scripture reference. Thanks!

      1. hi i just printed a copy of these … they are awesome and thank you so much… wanted to tell you that “j” is still printing hebrews instead of 1 corinthinans.. You are blessed and highly favored….

        1. The “J” verse is the Hebrews verse. It was the “N’ verse (No eye has seen, No ear has heard) that had the wrong scripture reference. I corrected this yesterday. I just double-checked and it is still coming up correctly for me. Thanks!

  42. I recently did something like this for the Great Banquet community ( ie Crisso/ Faith Walk and all those w/ DeColores on their bumpers) and it wasnt nearly as visually beautiful. I love this, as a second grade sunday school teacher I would love to use it for my students. Also in a recent bible study I was urged to use the most culturally current version of the Bible so things are in today’s context. Although I love the KJV, The Message often speaks to my heart, even more.

  43. Thank you for posting these! My 4.5 year old son and I are having such great discussions about the verses you selected. :-)

Could you tell me which font you used? I’d like to make some additional cards in the same style.

    Blessings!
    Mary Lynn

  44. This is AMAZING!! I have been working with my 22month old on memorizing some simple verses and this will be such a wonderful resource for him and for my 4 month old as he gets older. Thank you for selflessly sharing all of your hard work and helping my bring my children to the cross. God bless!!

  45. this is such a wonderful idea…. as parents it’s our obligation to do everything we can to assure our kid’s salvation…. I really love this idea! can’t wait to make one for my little one

  46. Thanks so much for sharing your ideas and talents! We’ll be using these soon! I really appreciate your creativity! The graphics will be a great cue to help my children memorize too.

    Vallie :)

  47. Thank you so much, these will be such a blessing to my boys (and me!).

Coming from the UK the whole KJV thing seems quite funny. Here different people use different bibles but there isn’t the same placing the KJV on a pedestal. Recently we were celebrating 400 years since it came into being & what an amazing thing that was, but understanding & language has moved on over those 400 years. The language is beautiful, if you are used to it, but there can be a tendency to believe it’s language is more ‘holy’ than other translations -it is not. I loved Eric’s encouragement to use a bible that speaks to you, whether it was written in the original language, translated 400 years ago or translated yesterday. Praise the Lord that we are able to read God’s word.

    1. Thank you so much for your comments! I honestly had no idea the KJV was still being so widely used here in the U.S. either. :)

The opportunity to read God’s word is one none of us should take for granted! Thanks again for your thoughts.

  48. These are amazing! Thank you so much for using your talents to create such a wonderful tool to teach God’s word!

  49. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I found these on Pinterest….and I am SO excited. I have been trying to think of a fun way to incorporate Bible into our homeschool routine (I am new at homeschooling), so this is perfect. It fits right in with my son learning his letters! THANKS!!

  50. Thank you so much for being willing to share these cards and all the hard work that you put into them. Please don’t allow the negative comments to get you down. My oldest son attends a Christian school where he is required to memorize a verse a week and we also participate in the AWANA program at our church where he does at least one verse a week but I will use this for my toddlers and myself! I also think I will make one for my AWANA class when the year ends for summer as part of their gift….much better than candy or playdoh…and hopefully their parents will use it with them during the off summer months at home to continue the commitment to memorize scripture. So encouraging to read of other moms being intentional with their children!!! We must stay saturated in the word because the enemy is alive and well and desires most to destroy our families and win our children over! God bless you!

  51. Thank you so much for the wonderful idea! I am also a KJV kind of girl, so I started making my own tonight. Would you mind sharing the name of the font you used. I haven’t been able to find one as cute.

    1. I actually made them on my other computer…on an OLD version of Microsoft Word. I had to upload everything directly from that computer because the font wouldn’t transfer when I tried opening it on my Mac. Anyway…long story short, I’ll have to check when I get a chance on my other computer. :)

      1. These are darling… I don’t have anyone under 8 anymore but the value in that is that they can read it themselves… too cute!

I would love, love, love the name of the font so I could use it in something else… please share when you find it.

Again, so cute and THANK YOU!
        Susie in KS

  52. Dear Jenae,

Thank you for your hard work putting this all together and for so generously sharing your file. I hope you don’t mind my adding the following list. (Please delete my comment if you do.) I thought it might be helpful for those who are looking for a KJV version of ABC Bible verses.

    Blessings, Angela

  53. I can’t get M-Z to open at all. I just get a blank screen. Are you, by chance, updating them, or am I hitting some new snag?

  54. Thanks for sharing. I just posted on my site last night about the need to memorize scripture in order for us to remember God’s Word. I am using Homeschool Creations AWANA Bible verses right now with my kids but she had to pull them off for copyright issues, I think. I will definitely save this post and share on my site.

  55. Hi! I absolutely love these. Thank you for sharing them. I was wondering if it would be possible to get them in full sheets 8.5x11so that I could use them as wall art. I don’t want it to be a big job, but if it is possible without a lot of work will you email them to me? Thank you so much!
    Blessings!
    Natalie

  56. I like this idea! I’m gonna do this with my family, but I’m gonna make my own cards. We only read and memorize scriptures from the King James Version Bible. Thanks for this! God Bless You! He’s all that we need!

  57. Hi, I LOVE this idea. This may be a dumb question…but what size is your book once it is done. Do I just print the pages and cut them in 4?? Or is each page 8 1/2 x 11??
Thanks! Can’t wait to make it!

  58. Wow these are great! Is there any way to get the title page you have included in the picture? It looks great and I’d love to attach it to the book. Thanks!

  59. Thank you!!! Great additional resource, I read from the My ABC Verses Daily. I want to hide scripture in way I can in to my children’s hearts to prepare them for a life learning and showing God’s love.

  60. oh and if people are looking for the scriptures for My ABC Bible Verses, Mamajen, com has them in 2.5″ size as her EduCube inserts. Printed those last night :-)

  61. I love them so much!!! I had to wait til we had ink again to print it out but we now do… I am so happy.. I can’t wait to start with my son… Thanks again!!!

  62. As a former, Jr High teacher for 13 years, I want to thank you for the work that went in to these and for your willingness to share them!! I am so excited to start these with my almost 3 year old. Your whole site is impressive. So glad I stumbled on it!

  63. I will be making these for all of my daughter’s preschool classmates, her Sunday School classmates, my Sunday School kids, and my son’s Sunday School classmates. What a blessing!!! Thank you for sharing all of your hard work. I bought a set similar to this for my son and daughter (off etsy) for almost $20 and here you are sharing it for free. I would not be able to share with so many children for the money we paid…so THANK YOU!!! AND I know that the blessing will return to you multiplied!!! Think how many seeds you are planting by sharing your hard work. Thanks again!!!
    Elizabeth

  64. I love these and have shared them and “pinned” them. We are using them during our family Bible time and I’m also making them as a Christmas gift for my nephews. I also have the book you referenced but never use it. I like how you picked different versions to help kids memorize. I personally use New American Standard most of the time and http://www.e-sword.net to go back to the original Greek of the NT BUT that is not necessary for little kiddos! Thanks for sharing these with us. Now I just need to find some ribbon to make mine as cute as yours lol

  65. Thank you so much! What a blessing! I KNOW how long it takes to make things like this from start to finish! God Bless you as share your gift of making these with others for HIS OWN GLORY! I REALLY appreciate you taking the time to find verses that are easy for the kids, but still true to God’s Word! We, in America, are BEYOND blessed to have so many versions of God’s Word in our heart language! Personally, my heart language is not Old English… but if that is the language that speaks to someone else, they are privileged to have that available. There are still around 2000 language GROUPS (about 340 million people) that do not have 1 verse of God’s Word in their heart language. How sad. You can visit here to learn all about the work that is going on to change that: http://www.wycliffe.org/ Please pray that by the year 2025 a project will be begun in each language group still needing God’s Word! Maybe some of your readers or readers’ kids (or even your own family) will be able to help in some way (praying, giving, or going!)! Blessings!! =0)

  66. How much would you sell one of your wonderful bible verse books for? Please do not answer me on pintrest…

    1. Michelle, no need to sell them…just download them from the links above and print them out. You could also save each page, upload it to Kinko’s (Fed Ex Office) and have them to everything…printing, laminating, and even cutting. :)

  67. I just copied your idea after receiving this link from a friend. For the same reason you did: we use a different translation. It took me a while to find a scripture for each letter too, but it was worth the time. Thanks for the idea! They turned out great! My friends are already requesting them :-)

  68. I got this link from a friend of a friend, and I’m excited to make this for my almost-3-year-old’s Christmas stocking! We’re making the choice to include Santa as part of our Christmas celebration starting this year, so I’m happy that Santa gives Biblical gifts at our house. ;)

And, thank you to Eric who posted about the translations… how loving and graceful.

    Thank you!!

  69. According to my own investigation, billions of persons all over the world get the mortgage loans from various creditors. Thus, there is a good possibility to get a consolidation loan in any country.

  70. Someone gave me a small ABC scrapbook years ago as a gift that I’ve never known what to do with. Now I do! :) I am really excited about this b/c MANY years ago I found a list of ABC verses that I decided to memorize myself, and I can still call them to mind by going through the alphabet. Your cards are adorable and I can’t wait to do this w/ my almost-3-year-old daughter! Thanks so much for sharing…

  71. Would you be willing to make these verse cards in the KJV for those of us who love that translation? These are so cute! :)

  72. I have tried printing many things from your sight and it always pops up that the internet is not working. I would LOVE to be able to use your ABC memory verse book for my boys. Could you please email it to me?

  73. My family will be deeply blessed by your hard work creating this book. Thank you! I hope you are enjoying Beth Moore’s study. I complete her study of Esther last year and really loved it.
Merry Christmas to you and your family.

  74. I wish these were done in KJV since that is all we use, but thank you for the reference to the book. My little one is 17 months and we are working on Bible songs right now, and would love to start on verses in the near future. I will have to find the book or even make my own cards.

  75. Thank you for this.

I’ve wanted to have my children memorize Scripture for a while, but there is one thing that has kept me back from it. All my teen and young adult years, my family was associated with a religious/homeschool group that focused so much on the legalistic outward appearence that the heart of a relationship with God was lost. Scripture memorization and principle/character quality definition memorization was/is drilled into the children, but there was no heart to it. Parents simply pushed it on their kids because the leaders of this group said it was the thing to do and so that they would look good in front of the other families in this group.

I’ve spent the last 7 years afraid to read any books (spiritual helps, parenting helps, etc) for fear of someone else “telling me the one and only godly way”. I’ve been afraid to teach my children to memorize Scripture, for fear that I would make the same mistake and end up “only looking good” and not actually concerned about my children learning to love God’s Word.

It has just been very recently that I have become free of that fear of once again following a person and not following God. I have been blessed by several Christians willing to listen to God’s direction to share their journey. And I have felt the urgency to grasp the opportunity to share with my children the awesome, soveriegn God we serve.

Thank you for such a great resource of short verses for my you children to memorize. I pray that our family will grow more and more in love with God through this resource.

  76. Thank you sooooo much! I teach preschool in a Lutheran elementary school, and this will tie in perfectly to our curriculum as we introduce letters and sounds. What a great ‘take-home’ to create for the end of the year!

  77. Thank you for sharing this wonderful resource. I downloaded the pages and can’t wait to make it with my first grandchild, who is due in 2 months. I guess I’ll have to wait a couple of years. :) In the meantime, it’s a great resource for ME. I’ve heard many of these verses, but don’t have them memorized, and couldn’t tell you the references. I can definitely confirm that the Word you memorize as a child can strengthen you in your adulthood. I memorized many verses as a child. As an adult I was not walking with God… until 6 years ago when I was diagnosed with a very aggressive breast cancer. We had lost my sister, at age 46 to the same cancer. You would think I’d have been terrified, and there were scary moments over the course of my 2 years of treatments (surgeries and chemo), but mainly I had a peace that, ‘whatever the outcome, it would be ok.’ This is because comforting words kept coming to my mind. I mentioned it to a friend and she recognized them as Bible verses. After all the years, the verses were still in my mind and in my heart and brought me comfort. Amazing, isn’t it?
So, thank you for sharing this. Even if our children, or grandchildren, seem to forget the verses at some point in their lives, once these seeds are planted, God can use this in their adulthood.

  78. DARLING! I can’t imagine the amount of time and effort that took. Thank you for your willingness to share. What kind of laminating sheets do you buy for this laminator? Do you have a favorite kind/brand?

  79. Thank you so much for all your hard work on these, I appreciate your efforts and the creativity God has blessed you with.

  80. Thank you for making these available. We homeschool and have been looking for a complete set of scripture cards that don’t just meet the ABC requirements, but would actually be lifelong tools in our children’s spiritual toolbelt. I had printed some others, but my husband wasn’t really impressed. I found these today while looking and they match perfectly with what both of us were looking for. Thank you.

  81. I love your cards and wanted your permission to use them as a launching pad for writing a Sunday School curriculum for our church. I am a former Children’s Ministry Director and would love to be able to use these to help teach the next generation scripture as it seems to be a lost art with many of the curriculum’s out there right now.

Blessings to you and your family.

    Vanessa Mininger

  82. This is such a fantastic idea. I will add it to my “to do list” . We use the KJV so i will need to make up my own cards. You are so good at this! Thanks for all you ideas, you are a blessing more than you know. whenever I have the toddler nursery at our church (2 & 3 yrs olds) I go to your site and make an activity for them. enjoy your day!

  83. Popped over here from ‘The Averitt Family’ and I love this idea!! I’m going to print them out and put them together this week, thanks for sharing!

  84. You’ve just made my life a little bit easier. I’ve been putting some bible verses together but not like yours. This is very very of you to share to us. You are very much appreciated.

  85. I’m SO incredibly thankful for the time you spent producing these. Thanks for sharing your sweet gift with lots of other mommies. My family is blessed because of it!

  86. Thank you so much for all the time & effort you put into these and for offering them to us! I’m so excited to print these out and use them with my boys!

  87. Thank you SOOO much for letting me use these!! I am really excited about putting these in our daily routine!!

  88. Thank you! I just printed these. I’m excited to use this sweet book to teach my daughters the words of the Lord, our God!

  89. Thank you so much for sharing these cards. I will definitely be using them with my girls. Thanks for using your talents and gifts to edify other believers.

  90. I saw this on Pinterest and love the idea. I showed the example to my daughters (8,8,5) and together we decided to make them (four different sets). We used card stock (post card size) and we developed a verse for each letter, not realizing there was a printable version. We had a lot of fun doing this as a family project, and it was interesting to see which verses everyone picked out.

  91. Hi Jenae, did you ever find the font that you used to make these?
I want to add more of these around the house and I can’t find a font in Word that even compares to the cuteness of the font you used. Bless you again for making these! I am part of a secret group on Facebook called “Holy Mama’s” and I have shared your ABC’s link with them and many of them are using them or will be for their classes :-) They were very thankful, so obviously I want to pass their gratitude on to the one who created them. Thanks again!!

  92. do you sell these? how much? what would shipping cost? i love it! send me a message if you do, with info. thanks… they are beautiful!

    1. No, I don’t. I just made them as a resource for you to use for free. Click on the links in the post to download them and print them off. :)

  93. As a busy mom who is alweays trying to find ways to help modivate my kids to learn i really appreciate you taking the time to do this. I have been having trouble downlaoding the file and was wondering if you could please send me them to me or if there was another way.

  94. We have the ABC Bible Verses book and if it is the some one we have, there is also a memory CD with all of the verses set to music. I believe you can purchase it in several versions of the Bible. My little ones have enjoyed the book, b/c it has the picture as the memory cue and the songs are quite easy to remember as well…

  95. I love this format and am planning to make these books as end of the year gifts for my preschool families! Thank you so much for making it available!

  96. Thank you so much for putting these together and being willing to share them with all of us! I am excited to use these to make scriptures fun for our kids :)

  97. I absolutely love these and would be so excited to use them. Although, I do use KJV for memorizing. I was wondering if you might email me a version of the cards that I could edit to change them to KJV. Thank you so much for your time in putting this together! It is beautiful!

    1. If you scroll through the comments you will find there are several people with links to where you can find KJV versions.

  98. Thank you so much for these flashcards. My 3 year old has been memorizing books, so I think she is ready to memorize verses!! Very excited to begin!

  99. Just wanted to say thank you so much for these verses!!! I just started a few weeks ago with my 3.5 year old son an alphabet album. We are using your verses printed out as well as doing other things for each letter page. He is doing wonderfully and knows A, B, and C, verses and we just started D yesterday. We both really have fun with it! You can see our progress on my lastest post. I am learning the verses with him and they are so easy to remember, something I have had trouble with myself. And they are so relevant for a 3 year old with a 2 year old sister!!!! Thanks again!!!!

  100. I know you made these a while ago but I just have to let you know what a HUGE blessing these are. They are so cute, I love the translations you used, I just can’t say enough about them. Thank you for sharing your hard work with us and truly providing this blessing to all of us and our children.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!

  101. Thank you so much for sharing! On my way to Educational Warehouse now to have these laminated! Can’t wait to use them and appreciate you posting these!

  102. I just came across this post, and your blog, via Pinterest. Thank you so much for these! What a difference they are going to make in our daily life with our boys!

  103. I am just so excited about beginning this with my kids! Do you realize how much time you have saved me???? Thank you and may the Lord increase your time exponentially for the time that you have invested in enabling us to provide a fun, Christian education for our children!

  104. hey Jenae
thank you so much for sharing this with us , there is nothing greater than teaching our kids the word of God .i have one question if i want to change one of the verses and replace it with another one how can i do that, is there a way??
i tired saving them on my PC and chnage the one i wanted but i could’t

  105. Wow! This is fantastic! I just found your website on Pinterest. I can’t wait to get started with the ABC Scripture Cards with my little girl. Thanks for doing this!

  106. My 4yr old son just learned a scripture for each letter. Almost all of yours are different so I’m thrilled we can go through it again. Thank u you-so cute!

  107. I’d like to chime in on the version issue, as someone who has been studying and has been taught about it. The problem with the newer modern versions (particularly versions from as early as the late 1800’s up through today) in a nutshell is that there are 2 lines of scripture, one flawed and hole-y that comes from Alexandria, Egypt which was used to create Westcott & Hort’s base from which some if not all modern bibles come from and the correct, God-chosen line of scripture that comes from Antioch, Syria- where the church started and “they were first called Christians”. I’ve been sharing information about this at my blog through my KJV Q &A Series which isn’t done yet. I’m about to share the exact scripture verses that show the errors in modern versions.

I would not use any other version than the KJV to teach my children from because I know I cannot trust the other versions available today- regardless of their “marketing finesse”. As for the archaic language issue- it should not be an issue for English speaking people. Just like anything else you can teach your kids what words mean and when studying the bible every word in the KJV is there for a reason. I feel like I can’t stress enough about that point without offending those who think otherwise.

I wish more Christians would open there eyes and study this issue – there is a real spiritual war going on to convince us that God cannot preserve his “pure words” Ps. 12:6-7 and instead we must rely on man’s scholarly-wisdom I Cor. 2:4-5. I’ll be picking up my KJV series soon if anyone is interested in finding out more about the background of where all these bibles come from and I’ll be showing everyone some of the holes.

  108. Hi,
Thank you for sharing this great idea as well as giving us the tools to do it too!!! I just have 1 question and I may have just completely missed it, but what were the measurements you cut the cards down to?

    Thank you!!

  109. I printed this out and put it in a small photo album to make it an official book on our shelf. It turned out really cute.

I would love to know what font this is and where you got it. I love it.

  110. Thank you so much for the time and effort you put into this to share with us. Can’t wait to start this learning these scriptures with my 4 and 2 year old. I love your blog and you encourage me as a mother so much. Thank you for your obedience to Christ and for using your words and wisdom to encourage others through your blog!

  111. I am in LOVE with this idea of memorizing scripture with my children. I was wondering if you have a template for your ABC cards so that I can adapt this idea to use with my children, or if there is a specific way you created them so that I can too.

  112. Thank you so much for sharing this amazing resource with the world! These cards are great and I really appreciate you sharing them. Thank you!

  113. This is our first day of summer vacation and I just printed these out to memorize with our kids. Thank you for sharing and for making them available at no cost.

  114. Thank you so much for this! My daughter will be 3 in August and I decided that I will start homeschooling her since we cannot afford Head Start. So while learning a letter, she will be learning a verse, too! I am so excited to start teaching her this…maybe turn it into a arts and craft day and make our own lil book with this. Again, I say thank you :)

  115. I memorized a verse for each letter of the alphabet when I was a preschooler (I can’t remember them all, but I do remember many!) and I was looking for them to use with my son who is almost 3. I am so glad I found yours! While they are not the ones I memorized, they are easier to understand and I can’t wait to start working on memorizing scripture with him!

  116. I just found these today and they are fantastic! I could have used them the last two years when I taught Kindergarten in a private Christian school. I will definitely be using these with my son when he is older! Thank you so much for sharing!

  117. I have tried for awhile to print off your beautiful cards. For whatever reason, I can’t :( Could you email me the file and I could try and print that way. Thank you in advance!!

  118. This is SO WONDERFUL! Thank you for sharing all your wonderful ideas! I have a 4 and 2 year old and cannot wait to do this for them! Your page is simply amazing! God Bless!

  119. Wow!!! What a blessing! I wish I had these when my teenage kids were younger. I am using them now for my 2nd Grade class and they are perfect. I was looking for the “right” verses for this year and the Holy Spirit sent you and these verses via Google:) I am really shocked to see the comments about the KJV issue. If you use a different version look up the reference in your own version, aside from that blessings and move along. Oh my question??? What FONT did you use. I can be consistent for the last couple weeks of school with the other verses I will use (All of Psalm 23)???Thanks again SISTER IN CHRIST!

  120. Greetings from Ukraine! =) Your site – great! Thank you for sharing your ideas. Tell me from what age can a child begin to learn verses from the Bible? It seems that 3 years is a very early age. A child at this age are not yet fully understand the meaning.

  121. I found this pin at midnight tonight and it could not have come at a more perfect time. This is exactly what I was looking for in our children’s ministry. Our children at church expressed their desire to learn more scripture and it seems that although stories from the Bible are very important, it is hard to find curriculum that really teaches scripture. Thank you so much for sharing your work with the body of Christ. Even now, I am asking the Lord to bless you and all the works of your hands. Bless you and all those you love.

  122. Thanks! … just what I was looking for to teach my kids! Will you be coming out with a second set? Please let me know if you do!! God bless!

  123. Thank you, Thank You, Thank You! What a blessing this was to find tonight. I just took a huge leap of faith and left my job to be at home with my two young children 3 and 7 months. I needed to take in a few other kids during the day to make ends meet, but they want their children to learn scripture too. This is more then a perfect answer to prayer.

  124. Love these!!! Thank you so much for making them available. I can’t wait to print them out and start using them with our kids.

Smiling over all the KJV arguments in the Comments. What a bizarre “controversy.”

  125. What a blessing this tool is. Thank you so much!!!! I will use this in the preschool, 1st and 2nd grade Sunday Sshool classes that I teach. May God continue to bless you!!!!

  126. Thank you so much. I’ve been struggling to make something like this. Sooooo nice to have the work done! I appreciate it so much.

  127. Just wanted to thank you again for these wonderful cards! My nine year old daughter and I have been using them since last October. She memorized up through O and then we got distracted. It is time to start reviewing them again! They have a prominent place, displayed on a plate holder by our dinner table, and I will be praying for you and your family each time I see them. Thanks for sharing such a great learning ( and inspirational) tool with us

  128. these are so great! We are going to use them with our prek bible class to help them memorize more scripture! Do you have the cards available with one verse on a page? We thought it would be nice to print them out bigger and hang them up around the room. Any help you can provide would be great!! Thanks again for sharing these :) I cant wait to see what our kids will learn.
    Heather

  129. Thank you so much for sharing your work on these. I have 4 boys that I plan to start home schooling in the Fall and these will be wonderful to use! Thank you! Thank you!

  130. These are AWESOME! Thanks for the work you did. I have a son with special needs and this is just the perfect thing to use with him. Is there a way you could email me privately? I have a quick question for you. Thanks!

  131. Thanks so much for doing this and sharing with everyone for FREE!!! I would have paid for this. They are awesome. I just started doing scriptures with my 3 year old and this could not be more perfect. God bless you for sharing!!!

  132. These cards are wonderful and have created a lot of positive energy and excitement around memorizing scripture at our house today! Thank you for sharing them!
I ordered the laminator you recommend and have a question – do you cut them first then put 4 in a pouch so the plastic can go between the cards? Or does it work to cut after laminating? Thanks!

  133. I finally made this today! My mommies Bible study group is studying the Deuteronomy 6:5-7 in detail. This was the perfect resource. Thank you so much for all of your hard work.

  134. thank you so much for this. it will help me memorize scriptures.. may god bless you with many more amazing ideas

  135. I have been wanting to make an Advent Calendar for my small grandchildren and wanted it to be a Christianity and not candy. I was thinking about using Bible verses and coloring sheets. Your collection of Bible verses are perfect for me. I am going to print them out and get come coloring sheets ready for next December. Thank you so much.

  136. Hi Jenae!

I would like to take the time to give you a heartfelt thanks for all of your hard work! I just found your cards today and printed them immediately. May the Lord bless you and your family!

  137. I love the cards. I am particular to KJV but I think if you are trying to teach your kids about the love of God and living right….. good job! For those who want the KJV, they could use the cards and just add the KJV of the scripture used on the back? just an idea. Either way, It’s all about the love of Jesus Christ and living right. Thank you for the cuteness.

    1. At http://www.abeka.com they have a kjv called Miniature ABC Bible Memory Cards. They are $3.oo. The code is 42021.
They are listed under K5 Bible. So check the Kindergarten five-year-old box and the subject box for Bible. They also have a four-year-old version that I think have beautiful pictures and many other wonderful resources. I think they also have a few Spanish products. Not free but KJV. Thank you so much Jenae and others who posted their versions. I Love all the versions that encourage and teach us and make learning to hide His word in our hearts easier. To Jenae and all who posted their labors of love -free- Thank you for the blessing!

  138. Thanks so much for this tool my friend passed these on to my daughter and I , and now I am using them for our V.B.S also. I have a question have you made these in any other language like Spanish? I am traveling to an orphanage in Monterey Mexico and this would be a wonderful gift to leave with the children. If you have any suggestions or ideas? Thanks again Tonya Van Meter

  139. have you considered making an editable option of the scripture cards for those who wish to use a different version. they could use this format but have the freedom to use a verse of their choosing. just a random thought. these are great by the way. love how portable they are.

  140. also it may be helpful if there could be cut lines so the cards stay the same size. it was a little tricky to figure out how to cut them but we got it to work. again just a random thought and wanted to share. thanks for making and sharing these for everyone to use.

  141. WOW! Lot’s of comments and interesting discussion!

Just to clarify for you Jenae, The ABC Bible Verse Book contains verses from the NIV, NAS, and the King JamesVersion (kind of like you did your cards.) The purpose behind this was to find verses that were translated from the original language to a verse that actually started with the letter of the alphabet, for a verse that could be illustrated well in order to be relatable to children, and to promote interaction and discussion with parent’s and children. Many verses that start with the correct letter (and are even great verses for kids to learn) are difficult to illustrate in a way that a child can see, relate to, and find application.

I’m so glad that the book inspired you to create your cards, and inspire other to seek to teach God’s Word to their children!!!

    What a blessing!

    Sincerely,
    Deedra Scherm
author, The ABC Bible Verse Book

    1. PS I’m not sure why the author of My ABC Bible Verse Book chose the verses she did…I thought maybe the reasons for why I chose the verses for The ABC Bible Verse Book might be similar. Either way…God’s Word is getting out there!

  142. Hi Jenae! I hope you don’t mind that I have been linking to these cards in all of my posts for preschool. As I blog through the alphabet about our curriculum I have been linking up here with the verse we are learning. I am so glad you made these! It has allowed me to easily make sure we are teaching our kids verses weekly to hide in their hearts!

  143. I could not believe how making scripture cards could cause such a hullabaloo. As a Wesleyan pastor, I would just like to share some thoughts. First, the KJV is a very good Bible; however, there are also other good Bibles out there. I currently use both the NIV and the NLT, but I started on the KJV. Much of the scripture that I have memorized since childhood is in the KJV. The Holy Spirit of God uses truth to convict of sin, righteousness, and judgement. He does not use any particular translation to convey truth or convict of truth. God can speak to anyone in any language he wants to and also use their local vernacular to get the “truth” across. Anyone who has ever actually heard the voice of God can testify to this. In many churches where the pastors insist that it is a “KJV only” church, many things in that book are still left un-preached. Let me give you an example. The Bible clearly states that it is a shame for women to cut their hair and it is a shame for men to have long hair. It also states that it is a shame for men and women to cross-dress. Yet, knowing the Bible says this, how many of those KJV-only preachers are preaching this? And these issues are significant because the word of God explicitly says that those things are an “abomination”. That is the word used in the KJV. There are MUCH more important issues at stake in the Christian life than fussing and feuding over a translation, and one of the biggest problems with the church of Jesus Christ today is the serious lack of unity in the Holy Spirit. People swallow camels and choke on gnats, and the world looks on, wagging their heads, and having no confidence in “those church people”. The biggest criticism that I hear when I am out in the world among worldlings is “Who would go down to THAT church? Those people can’t even get along with each other!” So, what I am trying to say is this: Regardless of what version of the Bible you are reading, please grasp the TRUTH that you are reading and apply it to your life so that we are not all an affront to the Lord Jesus Christ. Do we really have any idea what the world thinks of us if we keep some fussing, meaningless nonsense going on and on and on and on??? Most of us will have all we can do to read ANY version of the Bible and do what it says. God help us.

  144. These are wonderful! Thank you so much, Jenae, for putting these together. :-) I am enrolling my boys in cyber school this year and will be teaching them Bible curriculum on the side as well as teaching my daughter preschool. I’m sure I will be visiting your site frequently in the upcoming months!

In reference to the discussion on versions of the Bible: I grew up using the NIV, had friends that believe using anything BUT KJV was wrong, now I use NLT for my study Bible, NASB at church, and have a NKJV devotional Bible, I still have a NIV that I carry around with me, and my children have various children’s bibles and we LOVE the Jesus Storybook Bible.. :-)

Point being that EVERY English translation of the Bible isn’t the original text and I’m not very fluent in Greek/Hebrew ;-)

Personally when I do an in depth study scripture I use tools like http://www.blueletterbible.org to read about 10 versions of 1 verse with side by side comparison. From there I can look up each root word (Greek/Hebrew) of that verse and come to a more accurate conclusion.

Aside from all of that the best way to interpret scripture has just been to listen. Find solitude with God and allow Him to speak to my heart. As long as you are seeking Him and letting him guide you, He will show you how to interpret His word. I recently did a scripture study on 2 Timothy 3:16 if anyone wants to see what I’m referring to: http://www.artistichandsoffaith.com/?p=827

  145. Dear Jenna,
Greetings from Malaysia! I stumbled upon your website when I was looking up for activities to do with my 2 and 4yo. I am a Roman Catholic, but my husband and in-laws are not. I want to do my best to share my belief and the Christian teachings with my children, and build their faith from young. Thank you for your generosity in sharing your resources. May God continue to bless you and your family abundantly! :)

  146. hi, i just found this and wanted to thank you for not only taking the time to do this for your kids, but to share it with anyone else who wanted to do it with theirs. i watch two of my grandchildren during the week while their parents work and God has really been putting it on my heart to begin teaching them His word. they are 1 and 2 and although the one year old isn’t talking great, she’s an amazing mimic and i have a feeling she’ll absorb this fast. i believe in using many translations for learning and that God looks at our hearts, not what church we go to or translation we use. we need to remember that Jesus came as an example of how to live, and love. let us be Jesus’ hands and feet and show His love. mercy triumps over judgment!! thank you!

  147. As a quick comment, as someone who has LIVED and FUNCTIONED in another country and language, the translation issue is INSANE. Go live in a foreign language and don’t speak English – then tell me that there’s only ONE way to translate things.

    1. AND – are you telling me that people in other languages aren’t allowed the bible in their language because it’s not KJV?

  148. These worked great on my printer and I am so thankful for your sharing. I am going to use these to teach my boys scripture to hide in their hearts.

  149. Thank you so much for sharing such a beautiful work! May God continue to inspire you as you are a blessing to many!

  150. You hit the nail on the head Faith. So many people are worried about versions they r missing the big picture. The Bibles says not to add or take away from the word of God(paraphrasing). We can all agree on that, however, i believe it is being taken a bit to literal anyway. To take away form Gods word would be to completely omit something God wants you to know and to add would be to insert your own misguided beliefs making others believe its the word of God. As far as the many translations, why shouldnt there be? If one version allows someone to understand what God is trying tell them who are we to criticize how God gives someone understanding? Everyone who wants to know God and his truths have to start somewhere, beit the kjv, niv, nlt, esv ot what have you. The point is to not stop with your Bible, go before God with what you have read and ask for full understanding and revelation of what you have read. I have found that many lessons can be learned from one verse, and its up to each one of us to get it from our relatioship with God. The Bible is an awesome tool, but we would be foolish to think that any one version is the only tool.

  151. Love this idea! I’m a former homeschooler and preschool Sunday School teacher. I sure miss teaching! I’m thankful you are helping your kids memorize scripture because it is indeed sorely needed. I remember the days when our family sat around the dinner table and discussed our latest memory verse which I had fastened to a recipe clothespin stand in the center of the table. Often times, it was a special moment when our Pastor would read from the word and our son would look at us when he recognized a former memory verse! By the way, found you via Pinterest. I just joined and am enjoying all the eye candy! Have a blessed day! :)

  152. thank you for the cards, my grandson loves them. As for them not being the exact FJV, i choose to believe God would prefer the child knew and understood the verse then haven’t to knew it word prefect by the FJV. Remember God is a loving god and he knows we are not perfect .

  153. Wow! May the Lord bless you for your creativity and kindness! Thank you so much for taking the time to put these great little cards together for all of our kids! And thank you once again for making them free!!!! This is exactly the type of thing I was going to try to attempt to do for my kids today and just happened to stumble upon a blog that mentioned your wonderful cards! Your’s are way better than what I would have come up with, so again, thank you!!! God Bless!!!!

  154. I found your website by accident, but wait! There are no accident’s when it comes to knowing our Lord & passing it on to our children. Keep up the Good Work & Thanks

  155. I didn’t really care for your comment if you’re hung up on a certain version I think you need to put that in a nicer way. Yes I believe in King James Bible only. So maybe you could just change that, and make it sound a little nicer we all have our preferences that’s OK

    1. Hi Sandra, I am so sorry if that sentence didn’t come across as pleasant as the rest of the post. I certainly understand that everyone has their preferences when it comes to translations and feel that you should use whichever you feel to be most accurate and the one that speaks to your heart. However, if you scroll through some of the earliest comments you will see that I was being attacked for not creating these scripture cards (which I provide to everyone for free after spending HOURS of my time creating them) in the King James version. Quite frankly, I added that sentence to the post because I was tired of defending myself and felt the comment I referenced in my statement did as good of a job as any at explaining my thoughts.

  156. I love the ABC Scriptures, I just print them out, and I will start today.
I have tried to teach my 3 yr old daughter and my difficulty is to be consistent, so we will see now. I appreciate your work.

  157. Thank you much for sharing these…so very kind of you!
I know the target ages are listed for younger kids, but I use these lovely cards for all of my homeschoolers: 17 year old high schooler, 14 year old middle schooler,
and 11 year old fifth grader. We have various bible versions here at home and use all of them. It’s important that my children know and love Jesus Christ as their savior; they’ll have plenty of time as adults to choose which version of the Holy Book they wish to use regularly.
(I’m also big on teaching gratefulness & appreciation!)

  158. Thank you Jenea,
I will be teaching these to my preschool-aged grandson. I’ve printed them and can’t wait to get started. Thank you for all the work you did preparing them and for sharing them with us.
    :) Jan

  159. Good to know. I had a good experience filling forms online and happy to share it with you. Filling out forms is super easy with PDFfiller. Try it on your own here USCIS I-9 and you’ll make sure how it’s simple. http://goo.gl/v4D4YB

  160. I am happy to have found this. Thank you! Do you have a version that has simpler and readable fonts? My son has down syndrome and he is a master memorizer, but the fonts in these cards look a little confusing for him. Thanks!

  161. I was looking for something for my Sunday School class and this is perfect! DO you have it in a one or two page format in list form so it’s easier for the teacher or parent to review them with the students?

    Thank You

  162. This note is a rich blessing to all who seek to teach the scriptures to their children from pre-formative years. Jenae , God bless you and family.

  163. Hi, just wanted to say that i printed the cards and they are awesome and as a missionary’s wife in Asia, the scripture cards came in handy and they loved them (we made a scripture jar and put the cards inside for memorization). Thank you.

  164. Could you tell me which version you used for 1 Thessalonians 5:11? Thanks so much! Love this resource!

  165. These are wonderful! Thank you! I’m a missionary teaching Bible translator MK’s. I was wondering if you’d be willing to enlarge the verses so each are on an 8×10 page that I could use to teach the whole class during circle time? I would love to tape it on the wall so it is big enough for the kids to read along. I’m also going to have a smaller set for each student but would love a bigger size set too. I guess it would be the opposite of the green version. :)
