Old Fashioned S’more Maker :: Product Review & Giveaway

Making s’mores is a quintessential part of childhood. Nearly every time I have a s’more, I think about this scene from the movie The Sandlot.

I don’t know about you, but the idea of an open flame and young children is enough to make me put aside my childhood love of s’mores in the name of safety.

That’s why I was so excited about the Old Fashioned S’mores Maker! No flames, yet perfectly browned mallows! Here’s what Nostalgia Electrics says about its Old Fashioned S’mores Maker:

Campfire nights are recreated with the OLD FASHIONED S’MORES MAKER from Nostalgia Electrics. The simple pleasure of gooey marshmallow, chocolate and graham crackers can be yours without the hassle of building a bonfire, not to mention pesky mosquitos! Simply plug in, turn on and watch as marshmallows rotate and roast to perfection. No batteries or lightbulbs needed! A handy storage compartment keeps ingredients and accessories ready to use. Perfect for guests of all ages, your family will love making s’mores anytime.

We used this cool contraption at Big Brother’s Camping-themed birthday party on Saturday. It was a hit! It can cook up to 8 marshmallows at once, making it excellent for parties and get-togethers!

Here’s how it works: You plug the S’mores maker into an outlet. Then add the marshmallows onto one of the bamboo sticks that is included and gently push it into the holes it on the warming tray. The marshmallows will slowly rotate to get them evenly browned. The only snag we had was we slid the marshmallows on the same side that we attached the stick to, so it was kinda of sticky and would stop rotating every now and then. This was user error because we should have put the handle on the side where the marshmallows were slid. :)

That’s pretty neat. We have a sterno-type someone gave us as a wedding gift, but it’s not that great for more than 2 or 3 people. And of course it’s not always convenient to use our outdoor fire pit.
