Party Planning Made Easy

It can seem overwhelming when you start planning a party and try to decide on a theme. A quick scan of Pinterest can be daunting – party planning has gone to all new places in the last ten years. But we believe that picking a theme makes it easier to plan the rest of the details. Once you have your theme, go cruise Etsy and Pinterest for ideas–we are always blown away from the creativity we find out there! This bee shower is one of our favorites. Once the themed was picked, all the other elements quickly fell into place.

Start with something that matches your child and their interests and everything will fall into place. A baseball nut would love to see his name on a baseball diamond cake, and an animal lover would be thrilled with a trip to the petting zoo and seeing their barnyard pals on cupcakes. If they are too little to decide themselves, start with a popular no fail theme – princesses, cowboys, baby bumblebees and more! It makes it easy to decide the type of food, a locale, and even the party games. This baseball party was for a friend who loves the Kansas City Royals–all the guests wore shirts of their favorite teams!

Planning ahead is key. When you pick your invitation, go ahead and plan all the decorations at the same time. Cupcake wrappers, tags, favor bags, banners, and games can be assembled in advance and set aside until party time! Assembling the food always takes more time than you think, and you’ll be glad you planned ahead on the details that impress your guests. For this rainbow party, we spent the entire week before getting the food ready and were glad we weren’t scrambling at the last minute!

We’re often asked about the little details that impress guests at our own parties so much, and they are really simple and super easy. While we love cupcake toppers and banners, food labels seem to get the biggest response with the littlest effort! It’s shows you thought ahead to how all pieces of the party will fit together. It also allows you to easily tie things back to the theme. Hot dogs become “Cowboy Finley’s Franks” and fruit kabobs are “Firehouse Poles” for a fireman’s party. Cute food names aren’t always noticed by the under five crowd, but they are a big hit with adults especially at showers!
