Summertime is perfect for encouraging kids to relax and have fun. However, the break in school doesn’t mean there needs to be a break in learning! ETA hand2mind (formerly ETA/Cuisenaire) has created their Home Team Advantage™ SUMMER Goal Achievement Packs to allow parents to encourage learning for a few minutes each day throughout the summer months! With a different pack for ages Pre-K through 8th grade, these packs are perfectly aligned with standards and benchmarks for each grade level.
We had the opportunity to review the Pre-K Home Team Advantage™ SUMMER Goal Achievement Pack and I am SUPER impressed.
-First of all, the entire pack comes in an easy-to-store clear backpack. All the materials can be easily seen.
-The pack comes with a 6-week “schedule” of activities. The activity typically takes less than 10-15 minutes (for the Pre-K pack, anyway). There is literally NO prep needed!
-All the materials needed for each activity are included in the pack (minus a writing utensil/markers/crayons).
-Although focusing on important skills, the lessons are still really fun for the child!
I was SO impressed with this picture Big Brother drew after we read the “Fruit Salad” book that came in the kit. This is the most detailed photo he has ever drawn. The fruit salad bowl is on the left and Big Brother drew himself on the right holding a (giant) spoon. :)

What a fun way to keep what the “bigger” kids learn during the school year in the brains for the summer. Also a great way to incorporate those younger ones who want so much to be the BIG kids. Looks like we could have fun unplanned by me (which is good because my aren’t always fun :) ) activities.

I’ve only recently started following your blog and I must say you have some great ideas! My daughter is still too young to do most of the activities (she just turned one) but it’s great to have ideas for when she gets a bit older. One of these activity packs would be wonderful for preparing her for kindergarten when the time comes! Thank you for all that you do!
I love stuff like this. I wanted to enroll my son in preschool next year, but hospital bills have prevented that. So I have been educating myself on homeschool, but that stuff is expensive too! I kind of freaked out wondering how I would educate my child until the bills got paid off. I was so relieved to find this site! I am totally lost when it comes to educating my child as he grows and he is like a sponge! It’s hard to keep up! This would help so much! Keeping my fingers crossed!

I would love this for my daughter – she is in summer school – just to keep her motivated and stay interested in school. She loves creative ways to learn and doesn’t like worksheets so anything creative like this will motivate her more. This also gives me something where I don’t have to come up with ideas.
