We recently received a copy of newest Veggie Tales DVD, The League of Incredible Vegetables. Just to give you a bit of background…our boys saw a preview for this DVD while watching The Penniless Princess (back in August) and Big Brother has been asking me every. single. day. when we would get to watch The League of Incredible Vegetables. He was utterly thrilled (and I was relieved) once it arrived in our mailbox a few weeks ago!
Veggie Tales certainly did not disappoint with their newest release. Super-hero lovers everywhere will enjoy this tale of Larry Boy, ThingamaBob, Vogue, S-Cape, and Ricochet!
As with all Veggie Tales movies, this story isn’t just about entertaining. The lesson in this DVD teaches children how to handle their fears–by placing their trust in God. Junior Asparagus is very afraid of nearly everything. When Dr. Flurry tries to use Junior’s fears against him, Junior (Ricochet) must look to his mentors (the rest of the league) for how they handle their own fears. Junior quickly learns that the best way to handle his fears is to trust God that He will take care of him.
Fears can be such a debilitating part of a young child’s life. It’s important to teach our children where their help comes from early in life–the Lord, Maker of Heaven and Earth (Psalm 121:1-2). This movie uses the backdrop of entertaining and hilarious Superheroes to do just that.
Veggie Tales has also provided us with a Parent’s Guide for a biblical extension that we can discuss with our kids after watching this movie. The Parent’s Guide includes scriptures and discussion points for stealing, conquering fears, working as a team, and real-life sacrifices.

Hi Jenae…I´ve been following your blog for a couple of years but have not written in yet. I am an American missionary in Spain. My son just turned 3 in September. I don´t have many Christian moms around me and finding Biblical influences is actually quite challenging here. I use ideas from your website (and others) to complement what he´s getting at school here. (They start school at 3-years-old in Spain!) We love Veggie Tales. Currently I just own one DVD but hope to collect more now that he´s at an age where he can begin to understand the concepts and follow the stories. My 4-year-old son has recently discovered a love of Larry Boy… So much so, that his pretend play has been circulating around it for about a week now. He’s been calling me Alfred and flying to the rescue of everything he can think of! My daughter loves Veggie Tales movies and every time Silly Songs with Larry comes on, she starts yelling “deeence, deence!” Meaning, she wants to dance! It’ so much fun to see how much she enjoys the movies, and it makes my heart happy knowing that she is learning Biblical stories and principles.
