Big Brother is on the verge of obsession with Veggie Tales. He LOVES all of the characters and will watch the movies over and over and over again. I happen to think they are pretty funny, have a GREAT message, and I actually enjoy watching them (unlike other kid’s shoes, uh-hum…Diego). We limit his TV watching to about 45 minutes each day…some days it’s a little more and some days (not many lately) where it’s none at all. If he had his choice, though, he would watch Veggie Tales nonstop!
I can’t help but laugh when I see this picture…do you see the loving gaze of admiration in the mirror???
We’re throwing a {family} birthday party for Big Brother tonight with a Veggie Tales theme. I came up with the idea for these Bob & Larry stained glass (or sun-catchers) after looking at the Fruits of the Spirit garland still hanging over our kitchen sink. I think they’ll make cute decorations for the party. :)
Here’s what you’ll need: red and green streamers (you could also use tissue paper or construction paper), clear contact paper, white paper, markers, and (OPTIONAL) a laminator and laminating pouches (I bought this laminator on Amazon when it was a Gold Box deal for $17.00 and then bought the generic pouches at Sam’s. If you don’t have a laminator, just put another sheet of contact paper over the top like we did for the apple garland).
1. Cut a sheet of contact paper that is 8″x10″ or smaller. Remove the backing and use a marker to trace the outline of Bob (circle) and Larry (oval) on the sticky side.
4. Using a glue stick, glue down the eyes and mouth.
5. Turn it over and cut on the line that you previously drew to make a clean outline. If you DO NOT have a laminator, make sure you place the other piece of contact paper on top BEFORE trimming.
6. If using a laminator, place Bob in the laminating pouch…
…And slide on through! Cut out, leaving 1/4″ gap, when you are finished.
The birthday boy was pretty stoked about his new pals!
If your children aren’t Veggie Tales lover like mine, you could easily adapt this for another favorite character (like Elmo!). Have fun!
Never seen Veggie Tales…you can peruse some of their DVD’s here.
