Javelin Throw

When I told my rough-and-tumble, daring husband that we were doing a javelin throw for one of our Olympic activities, his eyes got as wide as saucers. Our boys + Javelins = Assumed Extreme Harm.

Don’t worry, this isn’t your  traditional javelin throw…this is a kid-friendly version (for the most part, anyway).

Here’s what you’ll need:  4 straws and a bucket. The straws without the bendy ends work best, but use whatever you have on hand.

1. Secure the four straws together by squeezing the end of one and inserting it into the open end of the other. Repeat until all straws are attached. Tape if necessary.

2. Place the bucket several feet away and have your child attempt to throw the javelin into the bucket.

Be sure to keep the innocent bystanders behind the javelin-throwing line. :)

  1. We also did this today, except instead of straws we used the pool noodles again. We used the noodle hurdles as markers. The kids had so much fun. Thank you for all your awesome creative ideas. Have a wonderful weekend. God Bless. Mrs. Valerie
