Letter Recognition using Cheez-Its
I just happened to see these Scrabble Cheez-Its on my way down the cracker aisle last week.
I’m a sucker for anything involving letters and food. A learning opportunity at every snack time…what can be better than that? :)
We’ve identified letters, made our name using the crackers and sorted the letters.
What other ways can you think of to utilize these fun snacks???
Love this! We’ll get some for Sophia ASAP. She does like to count her crasins and line them up too :)
You could have them match letters, play bingo, make words and then change the beginning letter to make new words, or eat a letter and then find something in your house that begins with that letter. Can you tell that I am a Kindergarten teacher on summer break? : ) Have fun!
Those are sooo neat. We are going to have to pick up some!
These are the ONLY cheez its we buy anymore (even replaced the goldfish). They are great for playing with your food.
When it was my son’s turn to bring afternoon snack for his kindergarten class I just HAD to send these in. I love them too! If you take Julie’s suggestion to make words and then change a letter or two to transform the word, you can use my Flip It Word List, found here: http://deceptivelyeducational.blogspot.com/2011/05/flip-it-word-game.html
This is very cool. I am always hesitant to buy things that have letters, or animals, like crackers or cookies because the design is so hard to make out. These letters are perfectly clear! Awesome! Back in the day-early 80’s- we used to eat Alphabet Soup (Campbells). Of course, this was before Chunky soup came in a can…it tastes so much better.
We used these this year for my oldest to practice his sight words from Kindergarten. Then we ate our homework! :)
We love them and even make scavenger hunts out of them. Another favorite game is to have a child close his eyes, pick a cracker, say the letter & sound and think of a word that starts with that letter.
What a great idea! Thanks!
My daughter is two but she LOVES these crackers. She will grab one out of her snacker cup, say the letter and get SO excited! Kudos to Cheese-it for finding another way to make sure I buy them (not that I needed another reason, the white cheddar are AMAZING!) :)
