Blurb: Product Review and Giveaway

Did you know that you can turn your BLOG into a BOOK? I didn’t…until I found out about Blurb.com.

Blurb is a company that creates books. You can make cookbooks, photo books, or you can do what I did and create a book from your blog. You can even write a book and sell it through Blurb!

And contrary to what you might thing, it is super-easy! You first have to download Booksmart, a software specific to Blurb. This took me less than 10 minutes.

You then can transfer ALL of your blog posts to Booksmart–text and pictures! This took about 5 minutes. This is the part that I was absolutely amazed with…2 years of my blog posts from my personal blog showed up almost instantly! Blurb works with many different blogging platforms including Blogger, WordPress, TypePad, and LiveJournal.

After this, you can edit and play around with your book until you have it the way you want it. You can put multiple pictures on a page, edit the text, etc. This was really time-consuming for me because I pared down 485 pages to 178! The software automatically put each picture on a new page, so it took a while to combine the pictures with the posts. I probably spent about 6-7 hours on this, which sounds like a lot…but we’re talking about 2 YEARS worth of posts here and I was pretty particular with how I wanted the layout. Now that I have the final product, I consider it time well-spent.

After you’re finished, the software sends the content of your book back to Blurb.com where you then order your book. You can choose from several different sizes and book covers.

We were all really excited for the book to arrive! Blogging has been a great way for me to record special moments in my children’s lives, so I am so glad to have a hard copy. I was so very pleased with the quality of our Blog Book–it looks professional! I will definitely be making one of these every year. :)

In addition, I know many of our readers are teachers. Blurb has partnered with many schools to make individual books for students. You can preview a book made by a second grade class here and then watch the video of the students receiving their books here. Students can feel like real authors when they have such a wonderful end-product to look forward to!

Would you like to create a blog book, photo book, cookbook, or any other kind of book??? Blurb.com is offering a $40 credit to one of our readers (which is enough for an 10×8 ImageWrap Hardcover with 81-120 pages)! I simply ask that you follow this blog, subscribe via e-mail, or “like” us on Facebook. Enter your name and e-mail address below!
