Car Painting

My friend Rachel stopped by with her adorable kiddos (with Sonic drinks for all) while we were stranded at home due to a flat tire. We pulled out the cars and let the kids go to town painting!

Here’s what you’ll need:  black construction paper, a variety of sizes of cars, and white paint (non-toxic so if your child puts it in his mouth like mine did…you can rest assured you don’t have to call Poison Control).

1. Squirt some paint out onto a tray and let the little ones dip the cars into the paint.

2. Have them roll their cars onto the black paper to make car tracks (cars with some tire tread work best…we only had one car like that but it was fun nonetheless). This was a great activity for all ages…

3. After the kids are done, rinse the cars off before the paint dries. The cars are as good as new!

  1. I have seen this activity and always wondered if the paint washes off the cars very well. So thank you for including that step. :-)

Also, I was wondering where you got the little blue trays. Those would be perfect for lots of activities. Thanks, Jenae!

    I am loving your site!

  2. We did this activity at the day care I worked at and the children loved it! It was such an easy activity to put together and our little boys especially enjoyed this art project.

We used shirt boxes from department stores that you can get to "gift wrap" clothing instead of trays but we couldn't reuse them for very long. I love the idea of using trays! Thanks!

  3. My mother-in-law is a nurse in day surgery. The trays are used to place sterile utensils on, but they cannot use them again once they've been "used" (even though nothing comes in contact with them). She keeps them for me.

I would recommend contacting your local hospital or surgery center. I'm sure they would be more than happy to provide all that you need. :)

  4. An intriguing discussion is worth comment. I believe
that you should write more about this subject, it might not be a taboo matter but usually folks don’t speak about these subjects. To the next! Many thanks!!
