Exploring Easter: Sunday

I received my first copy of Thriving Family magazine yesterday and was thrilled with everything inside. I spent lots of time perusing the articles because they were all so great, but was so excited to find this feature on Exploring Easter, which couldn’t have been more timely.

In this article, there is a family activity and scripture reading for every day of the week. What a great way to spend the week leading up to Easter! It seemed to really tie in with the Easter Story Countdown I posted last week but gave a craft or activity as well (in addition to just opening the egg).

Sunday:

1)  Read John 12:12-13:

“The next day, the news that Jesus was on the way to Jerusalem swept through the city. A large crowd of Passover visitors took palm branches and went down the road to meet him. They shouted,

   “Praise God!

Blessings on the one who comes in the name of the Lord!

Hail to the King of Israel!”

2)  Create palm branches. Stacie from the Amazing Mess has great instructions for this! Head on over here.

3)  Use the palm branches to decorate the dinner table and make a path with them leading to the dinner table. Tell your children that the people shouted “Hosanna” or “Praise God” as Jesus was being led into the city. What might they shout if they saw Jesus walking into their house/school/church today???
