The Cutest Father’s Day Photo Idea

Father's Day Photo Idea - Just Like Daddy

First things first…if you are my husband and you are reading this post. Shame on you! I told you not to even think about looking at the blog until after Father’s Day! :)

For everyone else…

I know I’m cutting it a little close, but I wanted to share with you a cute DIY Father’s Day gift for Dad this Father’s Day!

Father’s Day Picture Idea

The idea of this Father’s Day gift is to dress your children up in their dad’s clothes and take a picture! Prince Charming wears a suit and tie to work EVERY day, so a tie (and dress shoes) was an obvious choice for us. Perhaps your child might want to wear Daddy’s favorite jersey or baseball hat!

Oh, and if you don’t know how to tie a necktie (like me) and need some instructions, this YouTube video is helpful! :)

I used PicMonkey.com (you can sign up for a free trial) to add the text to this Father’s Day picture based on the lyrics of the song “I Want to Be Just Like You” by Phillips, Craig, & Dean (if you’ve never heard this song, get the tissues ready!).

I used the font “La Belle Aurore” for the cursive writing and “Cardo” for the serif writing. I can’t decide whether to print this Father’s Day gift in color or in black-and-white. What do you think???

Print Your Father’s Day Photo

Once I have got this Father’s Day picture printed , I’ll be putting this in a tabletop frame so that Prince Charming can keep it at his desk at work!

I’m also planning to give him these adorable photos…

What are you and your children planning to do for Father’s Day this year?

What a great idea! My bestie did this for her husband last year and this!

Also, I love the mission that your friend is on and I donated to the cause. Only God can steer a heart like that. Bless her in her endeavors!

I LOVE this idea! Both the color and the b/w look great. If I may make a suggestion, how about keeping it b/w but adding a color punch with maybe dad’s ties, or the lettering in the font. :)

LOVE these photos–precious! I have 3 girls and a boy–can’t see a way to make the clothing thing work but I may come up with something like this because I am brain dead for Father’s Day this year…thanks!

I love this program you suggested. I’ve been using Pixlr for awhile now and I like picmonkey much better! Thanks for the suggestion. I just tried it out with a picture I took of my little guy and love how it came out. Such a sweet idea. I know my husband will love it!

What a fun idea! Personally, I like the color one as the colors look so great together in this photo, especially with the outdoors as the backdrop. While I enjoy B&W a lot, it seems like a lot of the detail is actually lost in the B&W.

Also, how do you get your kids to pose for you? My 4 year old son, who is so photogenic, hates having his picture taken. He used to not mind and I didn’t think he’d run from the camera until he was a teen. But he fights having his pictures taken, unless it’s by a professional. And who can afford those all the time? I try to sneak pictures of him all the time, but he’s always turning away from me before I can snap the picture.

Ummm…would you think I was horrible if I said that bribery works wonders???

In this particular case, I told them they could each have an Angry Bird Band-Aid if they smiled pretty for the pictures. :)

I went ahead and printed both of them. I’m going to let him choose. :)

Haha, that’s awesome! I definitely don’t think your horrible. Most people I know who are against bribing children have never had children of their own. Although, bribery doesn’t always work with my son. I’ve had it backfire on me a couple times. Go figure!!

Love this and love PicMonkey! Thanks for the tips. I have been trying to decide what to do for hubby for Father’s Day. Made one in about 5 minutes.

Ha!! I totally did this with my boys when they were 2, and just did it again yesterday (they are almost 5) with them wearing the SAME dress shirts and shoes as they did when they were smaller. I plan to do this every other father’s day or so until they actually fit into Daddy’s clothes. Such a beautiful gift and great for the grandparent’s too.
