Fun & Frugal Gift Idea
I shared this idea on my Facebook page a few days ago, but finally got a chance to visit a few stores today!
Christmas is just around the corner…but that doesn’t mean we can’t take advantage of a few Halloween sales! I’m putting together an “Imagination Trunk” for Big Brother for Christmas with several items great for pretend play–costumes. Believe it or not, allowing children opportunities to pretend and use their imagination (while dressed up) is fostering their development. Pretend play is an important part of early childhood education!

I was able to snag all four of these costumes–Firefighter, Doctor, Buzz Lightyear, and Thomas the Train–for $20 (or $5 a piece)!
Our Toys ‘R Us had all of their costumes 75% off and Target had theirs 50% off (but are supposedly going to 75% off tomorrow). I haven’t been able to find any stellar online deals, but if you do let me know…
We’re going to throw all these in an old suitcase and watch as Big Brother’s imagination runs wild this Christmas!
I've been doing the same for my 3 year old. I should try to find a Buzz costume- she'll love that! I have heard our Target store had the costumes for 75% off today :)
Great idea. I just grabbed 4 costumes at $3.50 a piece today. My 4 yr old boy loves to dress up (more than my daughter ever did). He has over 15 costumes and picks several each day. I like your suit case idea. I have them all stashed in an old tall hamper in his closet (so the light sabers and stick horses will fit too).
I love that idea! My girls have a bunch of dress-up stuff! And i'm working on sewing more(hope they turn out) because my 2yr has grown so much there getting to small for her, but i never thought about buying sale costumes.
Fun idea – I'll have to keep my eyes open! :o) I just found the "songs" section of your blog. I know a lot of children's songs but these were new to me! My 2-year-old sat on my lap and we learned some new songs together. Our "Big sister" loved watching what your "Big Brother" was doing. :o) Cute, cute blog! I'm learning a lot from you!
Genius! I am going to check out what the local stores have left today. I can imagine my little one will love to have more costumes to play with.
Thanks for sharing!
Love this idea! I was hoping to get some at Target at 90% off this year……
