Goals, Organizing, and a New Binder?

Something is seriously wrong with me. For the last few days I have been itching to organize. If you knew me in real-life, you would know how ridiculous this sounds. Me, want to organize? Voluntarily? That is one of my most dreaded tasks!

But alas, it’s true! Saturday was spent organizing our storage room and taking a large load to Goodwill (before the year’s end). We also took down Christmas and rearranged furniture. I enjoy Christmas decorations, but I really enjoy the feeling of a bare, uncluttered house!

Yesterday, I spent the boys Little Brother’s entire nap time finishing writing my goals and putting together this handy-dandy binder. Yep, I am the proud new owner of this home organization binder.

I’m feeling half-proud and half-dorky. And yes, those are smudges you see on my binder. I recycled one we had in our basement…and couldn’t get the smudges off no matter how hard I scrubbed! :)

Oh, what’s that? You’re wondering what’s inside my binder??? I thought you’d never ask!

::  A daily checklist of the daily tasks that need to get done (running dishwasher, play time with the boys, etc). I used Money Saving Mom’s Daily Docket.

::  A cleaning schedule for each day of the week. I used Money Saving Mom’s Customizable Cleaning List.

::  An organization calendar with one organizing task each day of the year. I used My Simpler Life’s printable Declutter Calendar.

::  My goals for the year. I already shared a few of my goals, but I decided to make them a bit more specific and measurable. I used Money Saving Mom’s Customizable Goal Planning Worksheets. I really love this resource because it encourages you to first list your priorities and then base your goals off of those.

FYI:  Part of my blogging goal is to limit the amount of time I spend on the computer to ensure my other priorities are in line. I’m planning on continuing to post daily, but it will probably be just one post per day (unlike the 2 posts I’ve been averaging recently).

::  Our budget. It’s still a work in progress…but we’ve decided to use the software You Need a Budget.

I typed up a quick cover for the binder on Word and voila!

Maybe, just maybe, this will help me stay organized in the coming year. Four days down…only 361 to go!

What is your favorite organizational method???

  1. Organization seems to be a running theme! Funny thought though… You have four days down however you have 362 to go… Gosh darn leap year this year, a whole nother day! ;-)

  2. So funny! I just put together my first binder with a lot of the same sheets. haha There definitely is a goal-oriented/organizing theme going on this new year. Also, your post about the snow sight words was just for me!! I have been pondering how to introduce sight words to my big man and I have also been planning my snow themed unit. So needless to say I am most definitely using your idea!! Thanks :)

  3. Wow! I love it! Super job putting this wonderful binder together. I would like to do something very similar. I struggle with finding structure and purpose in the days (I stay home with my 2 year old son) and I think something like this would help.

Thank you so much for all of your posts…they’re absolutely wonderful and so so helpful!!

  4. I LOVE repurposing our old items. Your cover is really nice. I like the big letters in a softer palette. I have a Home Management binder, but I also have a Meal Planning binder in the kitchen, a finance binder at my desk, and a Holidays binder for planning birthdays and upcoming holidays. Love it!

  5. Is there a way to change the chore chart to TASKS? I am looking for something for my first grader to help him stay on task at school? Thanks for your help!
