As a parent, one of the scariest sounds to hear in the middle of the night is a thunk promptly followed by a loud scream or cry. Transitioning from a crib to a bed is never easy but Summer Infant makes it much easier to bear with their Sure&Secure® Double Bedrail. Moms and dads can rest a little easier knowing their little one won’t be falling out..even when in a twin, full, or queen-size bed.
We are beginning to think about moving Little Brother into a twin bed. The bed is set up and ready and once we make the switch, the boys will be sharing a room. With Big Brother, we never used a toddler bed nor did we convert our crib. We were still at our old house and just started him off by putting a twin-size mattress on the floor (so if he fell off, it was only a few inches). After a few weeks, we added the box springs. By the time we put the mattress and box springs on the frame, he was so used to sleeping within the space of the twin mattress that we never had any issues with him falling out.
But we won’t be going that route with Little Brother…mostly because we have a spider problem in our new (old) house. Not just any spiders, but brown recluse (which can cause a lot of damage to the skin, tissue, and muscle when they bite). No mattress on the floor this time…no Siree.
That’s why I was elated to try out the Summer Infant Sure&Secure® Double Bedrail! I was able to put the bedrail together in about 20 minutes. I’m sure it would have taken more direction-savvy people (such as my husband) a much shorter amount of time, but I was pretty proud I could do it myself without having to redo anything! Then we just hooked the two rails together using the provided connectors and put it on top of the box springs (under the mattress). Everything needed to put it together was included…even a 9-inch paper ruler to make sure that the bedrail is at least 9 inches from the top and/or bottom of the mattress!
One thing I really like about this bedrail is that it is (obviously) double-sided. I’m not a fan of putting beds up against the wall, so this was the perfect solution for us. I also love that it is a breathable mesh fabric.
My favorite feature, however, is that it can fold down on each side, making it TONS easier to make the bed!
I feel 100% confident that Little Brother will transition smoothly from his crib to a bed without any bumps or bruises, thanks to this product!
If blue doesn’t float your boat…rest assured, there is a pink one available as well. :)
