We have a lot of “firsts” coming up in our family. My oldest son will start his first day of middle school next week. My baby starts kindergarten the following week. It’s the end of an era for me having kids at home during the day and I am not quite sure what to do with myself!

 

 

One of my very favorite things to do is look back on all the “first day” pictures of my kids over the years. I have to admit, it always makes me a little teary-eyed every year! We were in desperate need of an updated version of our first day of school signs since the last ones I made were seven years ago! Personally, I prefer the clean and simple look of chalkboard first day of school signs. After all…as long as someone is in school, a chalkboard never goes out of style!

 

 

You can use these first day of school signs as they are, or you can cut them and tape them to the front of a “real” chalkboard for a more authentic look (which is what I did in these photos). My penmanship is not pretty enough to actually write on the chalkboard and this keeps the signs looking uniform for each kid and over each year.

 

 

Download our first day of school signs for preschool all the way through your child’s senior year (good luck getting your 17-year old to agree to taking a picture with it). :)  I changed the wording slightly for the high school years to say “First Day as a Freshman,” etc.
