A Lesson Learned: Don’t forget to put on sunscreen!!
It was so much fun to get away for a few days. Prince Charming and I had so much fun together. He had meetings in the mornings while I slept in (bliss!) and then we got to spend time together afterwards. We stayed in a NICE hotel that was on a golf course, across the street from a HUGE mall, and minutes from the beach! On Thursday morning I took a shuttle to the beach (about a 5-minute ride) where they had a private beach specifically for our hotel. I put sunscreen on my shoulders and my face before I left and planned to put sunscreen on the rest of my body when I needed it (since I never burn). BAD IDEA! I got carried away reading my book and 2 hours later, Prince Charming joined me on the beach and noticed that I was looking rather pink. I then put sunscreen on. I realized a few hours later I was completely and totally fried. Apparently, the sun in Miami is quite a bit hotter than it is here. I have NEVER had a sunburn this bad! From the tips of my fingers all the way to my toes (minus my face and shoulders), I am strawberry red. Still.
We enjoyed the rest of our trip, but I have been in a lot of pain, wasn’t able to sleep well, and move rather strangely in an effort to avoid even more pain. :)
I’m so thankful for a little getaway with the man of my dreams! We missed the boys like crazy and were so excited to see them today (although they didn’t seem to miss us a bit). And you better believe next time I go away for a beach vacation, I will be drenched in sunscreen!
And yes, we did take a picture of ourselves in the mirror. |
Use some ibuprofen!! Really helps w/ the soreness!
I'm sorry about the sunburn, but oh, you two are so cute! :-) Though I'm not a Mom…yet, I love your site for the passionate teacher you are to your children! I feel the same way about my ministry as a teacher and am looking forward to the day when I stay at home with my children to teach them.
I just wanted to stop by and say hi! I am a teacher too and while I don't stay at home with my little guy I am always looking for ways to educate him; I feel like I'll get excellent ideas from your site for him and my own classroom.
Can't wait to read more.

The last time I was in Miami, I got so burnt, too!!! We're actually getting ready to move to Miami in a little over 2 months! Everyone will be plastered in sunscreen 24/7! ;) Looks like you had a lot of fun (even with the sunburn!)
Love your blog :) We homeschool our 5 children (ages 1-11) & you have a lot of great ideas for my little ones!
Sounds like you had a great trip! We live in Key Largo (south of Miami) & the #1 thing we see a lot of down here are pink people! It is so important to not forget the sunscreen…it only takes about 15 minutes to burn, especially on the beach where the sun reflects off of the bright white sand! Hope your burns heal up quickly :)
