life is fragile
Let me tell you what this camera has endured in the last day. After going on a vacation to the mountains, this camera was traveling in a car on the way home. The roads were snowy, but the journey was almost over. Thirty minutes away from home, this camera (and the car it was riding in) were involved in a bad car accident. The car started sliding on the black ice over a bridge- hit the guard rail, the side of a semi-truck, the guard rail again, then the truck again…finally landing in a grassy median. In the accident, the trunk of the car came open, sending the camera flying outside of its bag. It was found afterwards lying in the middle of the interstate Amazingly, it doesn’t have a scratch on it and works just fine.
Just like the camera…we too were shaken but unscathed. The boys, Prince Charming and I were in that car also. In the split second where the collision was inevitable…I thought the worst. I closed my eyes and screamed, not expecting to come out of it unharmed. Big Brother was asleep when it happened, but awoke either during or right afterwards. He has no recollection of the traumatic accident (thank goodness). Little Brother was eating a Nilla Wafer at the time of the accident and afterwards looking back at him, he was still munching away, acting as if nothing happened. The boys and I were promptly ushered away from the scene without a scratch. Prince Charming stayed behind with the car…which is totaled. He too is just fine. The truck who we hit never stopped…he just kept driving until he was pulled over several miles down the road.
We felt the hand of God protecting us last night. It truly is a miracle that we are all okay! We are so very thankful that no one was hurt. This has been a humble reminder to me how fragile life is! In a split second, our world could have easily been turned upside down. I’ve been hugging on my babies even more today…cherishing every moment with them. I’ve thanked God a hundred times for protecting them (and us).
I’ll be preoccupied for the next few days…dealing with insurance, looking for a car to purchase, and ordering new carseats. I hope you’ll excuse my absence…
Oh my gosh, that just brought tears to my eyes. Praise God that all of you are safe and unharmed!!!! I'll be hugging my babies extra tight today, too–what a good reminder that we should never take life or time with our loved ones for granted. Take care and take as much time as you need—you know all of us understand! xoxo
oH Jenae!!! What a traumatic event. I am so thankful that all you were protected by His mighty (but gentle) hand. May He continue to bless you and keep you–and your babies and your Prince Charming! Love all of you so much!!
I have been following your blog several months now. My thoughts and prayers are with your family at this time. Continue to hold your babies tight as you are thankful for the Almighty's blessings. We will be here when you return.
So glad you're all ok!
Thank God you are all OK! Bless you guys!
We love you!
Dear goodness! Thankfully you are all alright! Bridges scare me. glad you ended up in the median!
So glad you are O.K….I had a very bad accident on August 27 with myself, our 4 year old and 22 year old baby in the van as it flipped and rolled and we landed up-side-down in a ditch completely destroying our van and only leaving me with a couple bruises. Super scary and yes, life is so fragile. Car seats and seatbelts are amazing!
So glad you're all unhurt, though I'm sure you're thoroughly shaken up. Hug those babies and your Prince Charming and be gentle with yourself for the next few days.
Thank God you are all OK! Take care of your self and your family. Hugs!!!
Steph and Christopher
Oh! My heart and prayers are with you and your family!
Scary. Thank God everyone is okay! I was in an accident with a semi a few years ago. There was a new traffic light that was installed on a street I hadn't driven down in a couple years, but one I used to drive down several times a week. My car was crushed on all sides around me. I was completely unharmed but very shaken. I had just dropped off lunch money for my son at his school and was headed to the hospital for pre-surgery blood tests. I'm hypoglycemic and had to fast for the tests. I was fine until the trauma of the accident sent my blood sugar plummeting. So thankful I was alone and okay.
I have to tell you, though, I was afraid to drive for a while after that and was definitely anxious anytime I drove through an intersection or drove near a semi. Still nervous around semis. Glad you and your family are safe.
Thank goodness you all are safe! Katie : )
Oh my! I am so sorry you had to go through such a scary experience and I'm so glad you were all able to walk away from it. Keep safe!
I got a text from Crystal last night and we're so happy you're all ok! Might I suggest a Nissan Murano or Rogue (all wheel drive! We like our 09 Rogue a lot). AND Britax car seats. The trauma surgeons I work with swear by them. Let us know if you need anything at all or Babies R Us coupons! LUL!
So sorry that you experienced that. When I was 17 my car was hit by a semi truck and we were beyond blessed to be alive but I was told I would never walk again or have children. I am happy to say that I can walk (with some struggle) and I have 3 children that I was blessed to give birth to. Anyway, a year ago almost the exact same thing that happened to you happened to us. And like you, we were blessed to all be unharmed. So happy that God was watching over you and your family and so sorry that you ever had to experience the horrible accident. God's blessings to you.
Praise God that you are all okay! Sending prayers your way as you deal with all the details and arrangements to be made.
Oh wow, so relieved to hear you are all ok! What a frightening ordeal, I'm so sorry! Praise God you're all ok, including the camera!!! Go, rest and be with your family!
Jenae, that is so scary. Praise the Lord his angels were working overtime. I pray you find just the right car and some good deals on carseats.
The Lord is our rock, our Protector.
Oh my goodness, so scary!!! I'm so glad that everyone is ok–including Mr. Rebel! :) Good luck with the search to replace the car, carseats, etc.
Wow I'm so glad you guys are safe!
I am so glad you all are okay. Accidents are so scary, esp. one like yours! Praise the Lord!
Very thankful you are all ok! And thanks for sharing – a gentle reminder for all of us.
I am so glad you are all ok. It is such a good reminder that life is so fragile and sometimes way too short. You had some guardian angels with you!
Wow! So glad everyone is okay!
When I read the title of the post my heart sank. Kind of like getting a phone call in the middle of the night. I'm thankful your family came away from this without any injuries and that you are able to see the value in a situation like this! Some of us might never know or fully understand just how fragile life is, so cherish what you have been given. I know that this will change you forever as a wife, mother, and child of God.
Jenae, I'm so sorry you had to go through this. I'm sure it was even extra scary for your family to face. So thankful you were all protected. I just can't even imagine. I will pray that you will get everything worked out smoothly with the insurance company and all the details involved and that you sleep peacefully.
Oh my goodness! Thank goodness you are all ok! Thankyou for the reminder , I'm off to hug my little one x
I'm glad you are all ok!
Wow…I'm so sorry that happened to you all. I'm also so very thankful everyone is ok. It's always a good reminder of how short our time on this earth is. I think I'll go give my babies a good hug now. :) God Bless!
We were in a car-totalling wreck two years ago (when I was pregnant with Curly Boy). It is truly frightening and such a great reminder of so many things.
I'm so glad you are all ok! Good luck with the car search and keep us posted!
So glad you all are okay. GOd is a amazing God and holds us at just the right times.
Praise God you and your family are okay!!!! I look forward to reading your posts each day, but totally understand that you have a lot to take care of right now. I'll be praying that all of those details go smoothly (especially when dealing with insurance…that is such a pain!!!!).
God was truly watching over you! Our prayers are with you as sometimes the aftermath is more trauma filled than the incident!
WOW!!! I'm so glad that yall are all ok! So many things came to mind while reading your post. For one, it was a reminder to me, once again, that life is indeed fragile. However, while reading your post I couldn't help but smile when you said Little Brother was eating a Nilla Wafer and acted as if nothing had happened. Aren't children amazing? They are such wonderful blessings! Once again, I'm so glad that yall are ok!
praise God for His protection! so glad all four of you are just fine –
I pray God continue to restore your family and help you in the coming days in every facet of your lives as you try to regain your life's norm again.thank goodness for his grace and mercy always…
I had the same accident – except it was a cement guard rail, two semi trucks and no ice! Everyone was amazed, after seeing my car, that I got out and walked away unharmed. God is good.
Be well.
