Self-Portrait
Around 3 years of age, children will stop scribbling with crayons and start creating meaningful pictures. For the last several weeks, I have tried (to no avail) to get Big Brother to draw a picture of a person. He refused and would simply draw squiggly lines that made absolutely no sense (at least not to me, anyway).
So today I decided to give him a picture of himself while he was drawing. This helped tremendously…check out Big Brother’s very first self-portrait.
We walked through the placement of the eyes, nose, and mouth in relation to each other. He even decided to add the hair before I could say anything!
I was just thinking it was about time to start self portraits with my little one too!
I LOVE your blog & gave you a Stylish Blogger Award today…check it out here: http://moomootutu.blogspot.com/2011/02/yay-award-for-me.html
I love the idea of looking at a picture of themselves while drawing! We will be trying that! Thanks!
Love it. Love it. Love it! I'm always thrilled to see children's drawings and your son did an excellent job. Good idea giving him a picture of himself. You're so smart.
Oh my, didn't he do well!! YAY! We have tried self portraits but my son always says "Mummy you do it"… one day :-)
