Monster Cookies

This recipe is the perfect blend of all our favorite types of cookies…chocolate chip, oatmeal, M&M, and peanut butter. My friend Sarah gave me this recipe a while back and I tweaked it just a little bit (and halfed it). I think that’s where the recipe gets its name…it makes a monstrous amount. The recipe I am sharing made almost 7 dozen cookies!!! I wouldn’t have a bowl big enough to make the original recipe. You can go here to download the printable version.

I also realized that nearly every recipe I’ve shared with you has peanut butter in it. I’m not really sure what that says about us…except that we must really like peanut butter!

Here are the ingredients:
1 stick of butter
1 1/4 cups brown sugar
1 cup white sugar
3 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 tablespoon corn syrup
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 1/2 cups peanut butter
4 1/2 cups oats
1 cup M&M’s
1/2 cup chocolate chips

I took pictures of each of the steps until I was already over halfway done and realized I didn’t have the memory card in my camera! So just imagine the first couple steps are in your head. ;)

1. Cream the butter, sugars, eggs, vanilla and corn syrup using a mixer.
2. Add the baking soda and peanut butter. Mix.

3. Add the oats and mix well.

4. Add 1 cup of M&M’s …

and 1/2 cup of chocolate chips.

Yum. This looked way too good not to sneak a bite of cookie dough. Shhhh…don’t tell.

5. Grease the cookie sheet. Using a cookie scooper (this is the handiest tool EVER), place cookie balls 2-3 inches apart.

6. Bake at 350 degrees for 12 minutes.

Delicous!

I didn’t even have to coerce these little guys to be my taste-testers!

And since you probably won’t want to bake all 7 dozen cookies at once, put a piece of waxed paper down on another cookie sheet. Use the cookie scoop to form your dough balls and place on the cookie sheet.

Stick in the freezer for an hour or two. After they’re fully frozen, place the cookie dough balls in a gallon-size freezer bag and keep in the freezer. Pull them directly out of the freezer and bake to make cookies in a pinch!

  1. I love the freezing dough idea too. My friend made monster cookies last Sunday. I loved them. (I ate three.) My kids liked them too. I like that that they have oats. I've never made them myself. Thanks for sharing the recipe. I forgot to get it from my friend. I'm tweeting your post.

  2. Have you tried it without peanut butter? We have a kiddo with a nut allergy in our house. Would there need to be a substitution of any?
    Thanks!!!!

    1. We had a peanut allergy here too, so I looked into it. There are all sorts of alternate butters – almond butter, sunflower butter, cashew butter, soy nut butter come to mind. Good luck!
