Our Love is Enough

Have you every wondered what exactly a ‘good mom’ is?  And more importantly, have you doubted that you are one?

I’m over at MomLife Today.  Here’s a short snippet:

I’ve been struggling lately with this debilitating feeling that I’m doing it all wrong with this whole motherhood thing.  I can’t seem to get a schedule in place, I’m grouchy in the mornings, I occasionally yell at my kids when my patience has worn thin, and I just can’t keep up with all the other super-moms around me (or on Pinterest, for that matter).

There are many days lately when I have felt like a failure of a mom.  Days when I can’t even enjoy my children because I’m too wrapped up with all the things I’m doing wrong.

Through the counsel of others, I’ve learned a very important truth.

The love I have for my children is enough.

I don’t need to wear myself out trying to juggle a million balls in the air, all in the name of being a “good mom”.

  1. Great post! I suffer from a lot of “mommy guilt” and this was definitely a good read.

  2. Thank you for your words of wisdom and encouragement. I’m a WAHM and I’m having so much difficulty accepting that because of the work I can’t be that “perfect” Donna Reed wife/mother. I need to realize that perfection is fiction and move on. Thanks for helping me do a little bit of that this morning!!

  3. Thanks for this important post. I agree that we can’t be perfect and what we can do is be a role model for our children of doing our best and accepting ourselves. Thanks for sharing this and have a great Mother’s Day! Renee

  4. What a great post!! I would love it if you would share at Happy Family Times (our Tuesday link party) sharing together times and ways of helping our families. http://craftymomsshare.blogspot.com/2012/04/happy-family-times-6.html

  5. I actually overheard my children in the other room discussing what makes a good mom. It was interesting, funny, and a relief to hear that even their qualifications aren’t that tough. ( ;
