Audio Book Review :: The Money Saving Mom’s Budget

My friend Crystal (also known as the Money Saving Mom) recently published her very first book! I am thrilled for her and couldn’t wait to read it. Rather than reading it, however, I had the opportunity to review her Audio Book (in fact, even Prince Charming listened to it on a work-related road trip and really enjoyed it). I love listening to audio books, especially when they are read by the author, because I can hear the inflection and intonation in words that I wouldn’t otherwise hear when reading it! I also loved that I could multitask and listen to the book while cooking dinner!

I’ve been a long-time reader of Crystal’s and my husband and I have participated in, read, and listened to a variety of financial education material, so I was a bit skeptical that there would be a ton of new information. Knowing Crystal, however, I knew that the book would be phenomenal!

This certainly proved to be true! The first few chapters were all about goal setting and organizing your life (two things I am horrible at). Crystal argues that in order to make any progress financially, you must do these two things first. This was a good kick in the rear end for me in an assortment of different areas (not necessarily financially) because I tend to be a fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants kinda girl! Setting specific goals and breaking them down into specific achievable actions was a great reminder for me!

Crystal goes on to share plenty of other ways to make financial progress…especially in the area of budgeting, couponing, and creative ways for earning extra income. But the thing that set this book apart from the other financial books I’ve read (or listened to) were the first couple of chapters on goal-setting, clearing out the clutter, and organizing your life! To make any significant, long-term, lasting changes…these steps must be implemented first!

I would highly encourage individuals wanting to get their finances in order to either read or listen to The Money Saving Mom’s Budget!
