Magnetic Scripture Frame

This scripture frame is actually just a repurposed picture frame…magnetized! I love the idea of having the scriptures on the outside of the glass so that you can easily change them out.

And guess where I ended up putting this frame???

Yep, I need this reminder especially when doing such menial tasks such as doing the dishes. Plus, this is where I spend a lot of time during the day! :)

If you haven’t already printed out the free scripture cards I posted earlier in the week, go here to get them! I would highly recommend laminating them, especially if you choose to put them on the outside of the frame like I did. I have this laminator (and use it ALL THE TIME), but you can also take the cards to Office Max and have them laminated for a small fee.

Now…here’s what you’ll need:  a 4×6 frame you aren’t using, some magnetic buttons (I received mine free from Craft Project Ideas but they can be purchased at Walmart), scrapbook paper, scissors, a foam brush, and some Mod Podge.

Cut a piece of scrapbook paper and put inside the frame. Place one of the magnetic buttons directly behind the paper and secure the back of the frame. The magnetic field should be strong enough to go through the glass.

Trace the button shape on the backside of your piece of scrapbook paper. Cut out.

Then, from the same scrapbook paper, cut a strip that is 1/4″ wide. Use the foam brush to blot the Mod Podge on the edge of the magnetic button. Attach the strip of paper and cover the top with Mod Podge as well.

Do the same thing with the top of the magnetic button…put a coat of Mod Podge on, place the paper on top, and cover with another layer of Mod Podge. Let dry. I made several magnetic buttons at once because I’m planning on giving these scripture frames as gifts.

Once the magnetic buttons are dry, secure your scripture cards onto the front of the picture frame using the magnet!

Keep the other scripture cards close by to change out whenever you’d like!

What’s your favorite way to display and meditate on scripture???

  1. Smartest thing ever! I am in LOVE!!! Thanks again for the awesome printables and now for this fantastic idea! LOVE that they are interchangeable!!!!!

  2. I loved the magnetic scripture verses idea! Thank you so much! I am home because of covid and not able to run to the store so I used what I already had in my home. I had a bag of tiny painted clothespins so instead of the magnets, I glued these clothespins to the picture frame glass to hold the scripture verse card and decorated the dollar store frames with scraps of material and flowers and gave them away to my daughters and daughter in law as well as my mom and mother in law. Thank you so very much for this idea! What a great way to get scripture verses into the homes of our families! :-)
