Outdoor Art for Toddlers

15+ Outdoor Art Projects for Toddlers

Summer is here! Now is the perfect time to let toddlers do art projects…because you don’t have to worry about cleaning up a giant mess in your house (which just so happens to be my least favorite part of creative art projects)! :)  We’ve compiled an awesome list of our favorite ideas for outdoor art for toddlers that go far beyond drawing with chalk!

If you’re visiting us for the first time, this Day 5 of our A Very Toddler Summer series that we are co-hosting with Toddler Approved! Today both Kristina and I are sharing a collection of ideas specifically for toddlers. I’m sharing some super fun Outdoor Art Projects for Toddlers and Kristina will be sharing Outdoor Water Activities for Toddlers!

(Please note:  I intentionally left out ideas that used water balloons or rubber bands, as I want these ideas to be safe for young toddlers who still put small objects in their mouths. As always, use your own common sense to ensure the safety of your child with each of these projects.)

I need to remember some of these activities. So far this summer, our only activity has been making our backyard into a giant mud pit, which is fun, but just a mess. I would rather clean up paint and food coloring.

I have to admit, I am a bit hesitant to do super messy activities in case clothing would get ruined beyond what is covered by our big art shirts, but some of these definitely need to be tried. The bubble wrapped tree and painting with your feet really interest me!
