How To Make A Cat In The Hat Hat!

I remember the days back when I was teaching in the classroom where we would try to assemble Cat in the Hat hats using large pieces of construction paper and they never stayed together. This year after reading The Cat in the Hat at home, we tried making a paper plate version and it took NO TIME AT ALL! I let the boys use markers to paint their “stripes” on their hats, but you could also use paint!

I was first introduced to using paper plates to make hats from Alphamom (via Pinterest). Be sure to check out all of the other paper plate hats you can make for every holiday!

Here’s what you’ll need:  cheap paper plates, scissors, and a red marker!

1. Fold the paper plate in half. Draw a line around the rim of the paper and then make a rectangle shape.

2. Cut along the lines and then unfold.

3. Let your little ones get to work adding their stripes.

Less than five minutes later…ta-da!

Enjoy!
