Stepping Stones and Diaper Towers

I stocked up on diapers for Little Brother this week at Walgreens (you can’t beat 8 cents per diaper!). I bought 8 packages total and the boys invented their own games using the diaper packages. Rather than hauling them to our closet right away, I let them have their fun!

Stepping Stones

Big Brother pretended that the packages were stepping stones. He would walk from one package to the other. Believe it or not, this kid-invented activity is great for gross motor practice…it involves balancing and taking steps with longer strides!

It was also a great way for Little Brother to learn how to walk up and down small steps!

Tower Building

These diaper packages make for some great building blocks! The boys had a great time stacking the diapers as tall as they could and then knocking them over! Big Brother even counted the packages as he was building the tower.

Learning activities can often come from the most unlikely of sources! :)

  1. My 2 year old does the same thing with the paper towels (individually wrapped) and toilet paper (wrapped with 6 rolls together) I buy at Costco. What fun! Then I open the packaging and she loves the challenge of manipulating them out of the plastic so I can put them in the cabinet. :-)

  2. Just came across this while exploring your fantastic site! My hubby thought I was a little nuts letting my little guys build and use packages of diapers (and TP and paper towels) to play – it’s nice to know I’m not alone! It is amazing how children see everyday items as toys – I love these little years!!
