Toddler Time: Coloring on Foil
For this activity, I just taped a piece of aluminum foil to the table and let Little Brother color with his crayons on it. He’s had lots of experience coloring on regular paper and I wanted to try something different…
He did not appreciate my efforts, however (surprise, surprise). He was really frustrated that he couldn’t see his coloring very well and didn’t seem to like to the texture.
It seems as if we might be getting a head start on those terrible two’s… :)
It looks like your little brother and my little sister have simular personalities… :)
I haven’t done this with my son, but I remember coloring on foil with markers when I was little. They made a sort of fun jeweled effect.
I wonder if the dry erase crayons would work better on the foil.
I wonder if the dry erase markers would work on the foil and show up better?
Looks like so much fun! (even though Lilttle Brother didn’t like it) I like the idea of trying it with markers like someone suggested in the comments.
Fun, I was going to try painting on foil the other day b ut someone got the foil off our easel and turned into a ball before we did so. We will have to try this too.
Here is our experience with drawing on aluminum. We used Sharpie markers…http://4herreras.blogspot.com/2011/08/drawing-on-aluminum.html
I’ve seen people warm up a cookie sheet pan, then put the foil on it so the crayons melt as they draw. Obviously you’d have to be very careful not to get it too hot and be super careful, but I’ve even seen people put the cookie sheet right on a burner on low heat with older kids.
